Don't know what that channel is. In regards to being off grid a 211 would probably consume the least amount of power.

Inverter is a problem, but then could not be left on. From what I have read, the receiver is supposed to be on 24/7,

Not necessarily, if left unpowered for any extended period beyond a week or so it would need reauthorized. Other than that it would just take a few mins to fire up and download the guide.

OK, that should work. Inverter is turned on most days for at least 45 minutes - and using under 8 watts might be OK on internet inverter, anyway.
What is the best deal on the subscription - prefer no contract. I see used VIP 711z - no smart card on ebay, about $50.. Is that a good buy?

You can get a new 1 for $99 here https://dishdepot.com/product/dish-211z-hd-receiver-everyday-low-price/

Without a contract you won't get any deals on programming, it will be regular price. The welcome pack for what it is-is an excellent deal, I think it's $24.99 a month.

Going with a contract would get you setup without any out of pocket cost and promotional pricing on programming. That is assuming you pass their basic credit check/qualification.

If you get your own equipment and get it setup DIRT can help you establish an account and get your programming going.

DIRT does not establish new subscriptions. He'll have to call in for that...

They can if the customer owns their own equipment and has their own dish up.
If you want the free install, free receivers, two year contract, type of new account...then yes you will have to call in.

I have a dish, aimed at 119 I think... I have not checked it for 3 or 4 years. What is the Prepaid flex or flexpay? And a strange question - not trying to pirate, but that channel says free preview. What subscription do I need for that? And for $100 I might try to use a 6 foot dish on C band 99W. The GeoSat MicroHD is 12VDC and I have at least 2 of those not in use (maybe 4.)
