Again, you just want to turn OFF the WAN port on the 2nd router and also the DHCP server in it, and hook stuff into the switch port(s).

What make/model are the routers involved?

They are Netgear WNR1000 v2

How do I access the second router? How should I connect the router to gain access to make these adjustments?

I would connect it directly to my pc as if it was a new router, and set it up, then connect it to the rest of the network. You probably also want to turn OFF the wireless on the 2nd router.
