All Fox News fans don't worry - Fox News will return January 20th. I have an installation scheduled to add a DirecTV HD receiver to my main TV on January19th so that we can have live broadcasts of Fox News for $25.99 a month. I have no doubt that once I have incurred a 24 month contract, Fox News will be back on Dish.

I received an email today from Dish...they gave me 2 free PPV numbers. I didn't request them, so I'm guessing this is in compensation for FNC & FNB being blacked-out. I have a feeling it's going to be a while before this dispute is resolved...

And how exactly is someone supposed to provide proof of this? Are you looking for an insider to leak confidential business communications where executives are talking about how they have to negotiate hard to keep price increases smaller? If so, I wouldn't hold my breath for such proof. Dish's prices are generally lower, no one here can say with certainty if it is because of hard negotiations resulting in more favorable carriage agreements, other reduced overhead, willingness to have slimmer profit margins than the competition, something else or a combination of all of the above. So basically I'm not sure what anyone here could do to convince you... Please clarify what you're looking for. Bonus point if it's a realistic request.
 
Logged on, provided account information, mentioned I'm a regular FNS and FBN viewer, said I supported Dish's position...then flat-out asked for my $50 credit that others were receiving. We'll see what happens. I do regularly tune into certain FNS shows...fortunately I can continue the experience by listening on-line on SXM. In fact, who needs to watch talking heads anyway...I get most of the content just by listening! Of course I didn't tell Dish that...but I think they're learning...

How about this alternative:
Given that Dish is less expensive and that Dish claims hard negotiations allow them to remain less expensive, why not take them at face value since there is no proof to the contrary? I'm not sure why you're so ready to think that reduced channel costs are not translating into reduced retail prices set for consumers, or why you seem to think that Dish could just cave and give Fox what they want without any consequences to those same prices.

I'm not sure any of us could ever come up with solid proof but there has to be a reason Dish has been able to keep their prices cheaper. If not then all the other providers are just making more profit from their customers than Dish is.

agreed.

there are too many things that do into calculating profit wrt cost. for all we know, dish has their equipment manufactured for next to nothing and makes a large portion of their profits there while keeping fees below their competitors.

it just seems asinine for people to claim these disputes are keeping programming costs low while we just received another price increase. customers pay dish for their service and they should handle all these negotiations without the customers feeling the effects.

Yes, but other providers are charging just as much if not more for their equipment and yet their programming is more expensive as well. How is it that Dish is still able to have almost the same programming and better equipment yet keep their fees cheaper than the competition? I'm not saying that it's solely because of disputes but I can't help but think it has something to do with it. Another part of it is because Dish isn't willing to pay for the Sunday Ticket and full time RSNs.
