Domain Controller Migration

I'm looking to migrate our domain away from 2003 and over to 2012R2

The 2003 server does DHCP and DNS. The 2012R2 server is already a DC and runs DNS. I'll move DHCP over later.

Could I move the FSMO roles over to the 2012R2 DC and make it the primary and not impact the users if I do this during the day?

Yep. You don't plan on running just one DC, do you?

Make sure you do your due diligence before you actually upgrade the domain/forest functionality level.

Oh yeah. I have a 2012 server that all I need to do is add the DC role to it.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't about to break our domain by doing this.

One DC is virtual the second will be physical.
