Fox Regional Sports Networks Block DISH and Sling TV Customers

I agree the customer should benefit, and in Dish’s case, their customers do. Year after year, they have one of the lowest increases. Customers should also try to get a better price... that is not the argument. The argument are the ones that feel entitled to the credit, and demand special treatment. Which is why I said, instead of making a big theatrical production of it, just leave if you’re going to leave. It’s ok for a company to tell you no, but there are many customers who think it’s not. There is a difference in asking for a credit and leaving if you don’t get it, and throwing a fit so that you can get it. Let’s put it this way, Dish has a blacklist. Customers who call too much or get too many credits eventually go back to the back office and that’s all they get to deal with. If they start pulling the crap there, they get cancelled. Those customers tend to throw a fit about why they were treated that way, and we have even seen some of them on this board, and they felt the were entitled to credits.

There are many customers who always have to be on a promotion and always have to get a discounted rate. It’s at the point where I have quoted a promotional rate with Comcast for example and was flat out told our rates are too high.
The rates where not too high, rather the customer has not experienced paying regular rates for anything.
What good does it do Dish, Directv, Comcast to keep providing discounts and credits just to keep you as a customer.
I'm kinda surprised you're bringing this up...since Comcast has (seemingly) had no problems keeping me on promo pricing for years now. All I did was walk into our local office, asked nicely & BOOM, I got put back on another 2 year price-lock promo...didn't have to get upset or dramatic about it.
AND actually...Comcast called ME back this past December, & THEY were the ones that offered to put me back AGAIN, on my same 2-year price lock promo I've had for the past 4+ years. Kept EXACTLY the same triple-play package I've always had. So as far as keeping me on promos, Comcast wins in my book! :D
Most vendors (aside from utilities) work from a retention philosophy now. It's easier (and cheaper) to take care of the customer who complains than to offer the service inexpensively for all. Directv moved away from a retention model and people weren't expecting it.
My point is that people are not used to a tv carrier NOT working from a retention model.
It's not that people are entitled to a discount; that's the way the model always worked.
EXACTLY!

I could care less WHY...ALL I care is, that it's LESS!
Oh yea...I love the Comcast icing on the cake, that I pay less than $3.50/month for a cell phone on Verizon's network...which I do NOT have to renegotiate at all! :D ;)
