VERY TEMPTING. I have referred it to higher authority for a decision.

Let me change the direction of this thread. I am still eagerly waiting for Dish to implement Google Assistant on the Hopper3 receivers. They announced it at Team Summit. I currently have Alexa throughout my house but Google Assistant is only in my Living Room. My Lutron Caseta lights throughout my house can be controlled by Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri through Apple HomeKit. Once Google Assistant is available on my Hopper3 I will have another method of controlling my lights. Scott, have you heard any updates regarding Google Assistant?

SWMBO has spoken, and decreed negative.

I don't see Alphabet/Google having much interaction with Dish and Charlie Ergen. It'll be a case of of one party inking a deal to lease, long-term, Dish's spectrum. It'll be about cutting checks every month sent to Dish. That other party may even take on the majority of the cost of further build-out to get things moving faster. There could even be an option to buy it all, as can often be the case when a founder (Mr. Ergen) is nearing retirement age. It's nice pay-off for the golden years. Ol' Rupert got himself a nice retirement pay out from Disney. What a way for either Ergen or Murdoch to go out :).

Or his kids take over the business. Nobody ever talks about his five children.

FIVE! Good Grief. Unless the kids have been around Dish headquarters a lot, they probably won't or don't want the job. They may have found their own path, and I can imagine Ergen teaching them that: to be entrepreneurial, and create their own business, like he did.
