I will never do business with directv again.

This is what I'm talking about:

"I called customer retention and worked on a deal to get the hd receiver free, hd dvr for 99 dollars, and also the sunday ticket and premier package thing with the movers connection."

If you were in a regular upgrade....why did you started with the CANCELATION DEPARTMENT or customer retention?

I started with a regular csr, and then moved to customer retention because he couldnt give me any discount for being a 10 year subscriber and because dish network and my local cable company both offer free hd dvr's. maybe you should concentrate on the matter at hand instead of dreaming up situations since it is obvious you dont know what is going on.

My final word in your case...you got screwed because you deserved.

Pay your bill man

Tell them you are going to Cancel and not pay. You did use a credit card didn't you. I hope you didn't sign the contract without reading it. You'll get a better deal (and DVR) from E*.
 The Federal Trade Commission would love to hear from you on this matter & also you can contact your credit card company & dispute this charge. Maybe this info will help.

Not sure why, but I am thinking we are not getting the whole story; IMHO.. Also all the DirecTV slander and DISH folks yet again chiming in is the same childish foolishness as always; like damn vultures on the prey. Silly!

im not exactly sure why you would want to insinuate that I am telling a lie. I can surely afford the extra 100 dollars, it is just a matter of principle. if I were to not pay the bill I would get my credit ruined, all because of directv's mistake. basically I have to abide by a contract that was set by directv's terms, not mine. If I had signed a contract and the charges were listed on there I would agree that I screwed up. The way directv's system is setup if the csr offers you something and makes a mistake while typing it up, the customer gets screwed and doesnt even have an option to return the equipment or cancel the contract. So I have to suffer for 2 years for directv's mistake.

how are you suffering for two years if you pay the extra $100 you knew they were extending your contract

would sure like to see the components of the bill. 341 with 2 new receivers and the other things mentioned and the normal monthly service still sounds like a great deal.

there is nothing to see, I paid 99 for the hd receiver and 99 for the hd dvr. while it may seem like a good deal it is not what was agreed upon when I hung up the phone. I verified this at least 3 times while on the phone with the csr which he agreed. what happened after he hung up I cant control. as a matter of fact he didnt even take down my new phone number and I had to call back and change my number so the installer would know how to contact me. that shows that his mind was not completely on his job while doing my installation notes.

I am not saying you are lying (not sure why you jumped directly there); I am saying I think we are missing a vital piece of the info; and I too, as mentioned above by HDhysteria, wish we could see the line items of your bill (in fact the current and next one)as I bet there is an easy explanation; I think there may bit of confusion at play, maybe a small billing error, or not understanding totally by what is happening. Just one more case of why I continue to tell people to never make a deal of ANY KIND without getting something in writing to review beforehand and to make sure you read AND UNDERSTAND all the terms involved.

Dait150; if you’re bothered as much as you come off, your time may be better spent chatting with the better business bureau. Google it.

because I did not agree to being charged for the hd receiver, now I must abide by a 2 year contract on a deal that I did not agree to. its easy to throw stones at me when I did no wrong but put yourself in my shoes and have to pay extra charges that you did not authorize and also have to live out a 2 year commitment although you did not agree to the terms that direct made up after the fact.

I have nothing to hide. I will play their game, I will finish out the 2 year commitment, but as soon as I can i will drop their service and never subscribe again. Its kind of sad considering I have been a customer for nearly 10 years but they dismiss the possibility of any mistake on their part. 2 years cant come fast enough.

Did they fix your 15-2 problem yet?

nope, I spoke with someone from the executive office and she is supposed to be working on it. I also went round after round with her about this after the fact so I am sure that I aggravated her enough to where they wont fix the issue with their receiver. so yeah, not only do I have to live out a 2 year contract after being screwed out of 100 dollars I have to live with a hd dvr that doesnt allow me to view all of the digital ota channels that I should be receiving.

As far as I know the 30 day thing only applies to new accounts not existing ones.

He probably saw the leading lines which show the accumulation of your services and failed to go any further, towards the bottom of the bill is where the credit usually appear, they probably shake out right in the long run.

nope. I am capable of reading and comprehending a bill. Ive been told by 3 different people that I will have to pay for the hd receiver so this will not "shakeout".

Did you expect to get a $ 750 HR DVR for free ?
