I called up Dish to get a new HD receiver put into one of my rooms and asked how much it would cost. They said it would be $250 to purchase one so I then asked how about leasing? They told me I can't lease one because I have upgraded a receiver in the past year, WTF?? From what I read when I did DISH'N IT UP, it stated that I could only upgrade once a year, not that I would also be ineligble to lease a new receiver for another room. What the CSR told me just seems wrong. Is this true?

I do not want to upgrade a receiver I already own, I want to ADD an extra receiver for a new TV. I'd be paying Dish their extra $6 a month for another receiver. If that was clear to you, then since when did upgrading=addition to Dish?

Dish never said an upgrade was just to upgrade the receiver. It's an upgrade to your system. They can't do everything for free or people would be changing things all the time, willy nilly.

How long do you think it takes Dish to recoup the $250.00 cost of the receiver plus paying someone to come out and hook it up for you, for that additional $6.00 a month?

I also think in the first line of the general terms and conditions it states: This agreement provides eligible residential Dish Network subscribers with the opportunity to upgrade, exchange and/or select additional equipment.

Not tring to bust your balls. Just showing it from the other side. :)

Try caling another CSR.

$149 is a good price for that receiver. Last year CNET.com gave the 622 their 'Editor's Choice Award'. It is still the best on the market (not withstanding the tweaked 622 now called the 722). We Americans get too caught up on the notion that everything should be free (or close to it) and forget that companies actually do have costs!

HD Compression
