Agreed, since it was designed to work and it's not, I'd let dirt know. I'd let them know the distances etc so they can report it.

wouldn't Dish just say he wasn't using Dish approved cable and then want to send a tech out?

No, I would report this with details. He isn't the first person with similar issues where moving component placement fixed the issue
