Programming Question

What channels ? See what 'packs' it would take to get those and which ones would need add'l packs and so on. They may decide they can do without some of them for the cost savings they'll see. Their call, of course...

Heck, who does Dish itself get along with? They reportedly have had more programming disputes than any other TV provider in the nation, ever. Not to say I dislike them or their innovations, however

Seems some of them may have been worth it if it yielded the Flex Pack options. :)

Well, they don't watch much of anything in the base pack.
They'd have to have the locals pack... No OTA here
News Pack... They watch the news a lot
Heartland Pack... Mom likes Hallmark and Hallmark Movies
Then to get all the college basketball, they'd need both action packs.

That comes to $75/mo. That's double what they pay now.

You ever considering getting them something like a Roku Stick with Sling TV?

That would be an ideal situation except they don't have Internet. To get it with high enough speed for reliable video would cost them about $60/mo, so it would be less to upgrade their satellite package.

Their part of the byegone generation. They won't buy something unless they need it, and they won't accept it as a gift if I try to pay for it. If it's something small like $10 or so, maybe; but even $20-30 might be a deal breaker.

The fee, or lack of in this case, for changing programming was in no way an oversight.
