'Supergirl' Set Visit: Take a Closer Look at National City https://www.yahoo.com/tv/39-supergirl-39-set-visit-take-a-1314365257990198.html
One of Supergirl’s strengths is that it’s a fun and optimistic show in a genre where “dark” and “edgy” are far more common adjectives, and the set of the show is as sunny and enjoyable as you’d hope it would be. Even the headquarters of the Department of Extranormal Operations — set in a cave — is a fun place to spend some time once you turn on the lights and open the elephant doors (the sliding doors used to move enormous set pieces in and out).

‘Supergirl’: Why a ‘Flash’ Crossover Is Exactly What It Needs http://www.cheatsheet.com/entertain...ossover-is-exactly-what-it-needs.html/?ref=YF
Why would a network add episodes on to a show that’s already hemorrhaging viewers on a weekly basis? The short answer: because they have an ace in the hole. The long answer involves a rumored crossover episode with CW’s The Flash during May sweeps, which, you guessed it, is only possible with a full 20-episode season. CBS splits ownership of the CW down the middle with Warner Bros. (and subsequently DC), making a crossover doable from a logistical standpoint. More than that though, it’s everything Supergirl needs right now both in terms of its flagging ratings and its greater storyline. There’s no doubt that the enormous success of crossover episodes for The Flash and Arrow is a driving factor behind Supergirl‘s strategy. Nothing helps a ratings dip like infusing one of the most popular shows on television into the latter half of your season, and CBS is well aware of this fact. But what a crossover episode does thematically is far more important to the future of the series. Whereas before Supergirl was hindered by being the only comic book show existing in its own self-contained universe, bringing in Barry Allen and the STAR Labs crew contextualizes it in a much larger narrative.

While Supergirl is just a few weeks into her new life as a superhero, this Monday’s new episode, “Human for a Day", will find Kara facing a huge crisis when she loses her powers. So what will happen when National City doesn’t have the Girl of Steel to count on, just as a major earthquake hits? Mehcad Brooks told us his character, “James ‘Jimmy’ Olsen," "Actually sort of steps fully into a different role, saving people and doing things that she usually does. He definitely is given the opportunity to step into a hero role.”
