Screen Gems has set two of the hottest stars on television for its feature film Oxford. Melissa Benoist, who’ll soon be starring as the title character in the CBS fall series Supergirl, will team with Sam Heughan, who plays the male lead role of Jamie Fraser on the Starz hit series Outlander.Oxford has a script by Allison Burnett, and Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are producing.Soon after arriving at Oxford U, an American Rhodes Scholar student falls for an arrogant teaching assistant who is quietly fighting terminal cancer. When she finds out the reason he is so standoffish, they make the most of each day, traveling the world together. Aside from Supergirl, Benoist’s recent films have been The Longest Ride and Whiplash. Burnett previously scripted Underworld: Awakening for Screen Gems, as well as Gone, Fame and Untraceable.Heughan got a great deal of attention for his work in the final Outlander episodes, in which his swashbuckling character was raped by his nemesis. In a coincidence, the actor who played that other role, Tobias Menzies, also just signed on for a Screen Gems film as he will play a key role in Underworld: The Next Generation.

Supergirl's Inspirational Trailer Will Bring a Tear to Your Eye http://www.eonline.com/news/689967/supergirl-s-inspirational-trailer-will-bring-a-tear-to-your-eye
Look, up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's…something that will distract you from our teary eyes! Please look in the sky and not at us. We're definitely not tearing up over a Supergirl trailer. Nope. There's nothing to see here, aside from this exclusive Supergirl trailer that will give you goose bumps. You will believe a young woman can fly!In the new inspirational spot, we see Melissa Benoist take flight as Supergirl, aka Kara Zor-El, Superman's equally-powered cousin. And let us remind you: these special effects are from a TV show, a TV show that has a tagline that are words to live by: "Why be ordinary...When it's your destiny...To be super."Benoist, known for her work on Glee and on the big screen in flicks like Whiplash and Danny Collins, gushed about wearing the iconic costume. "The second I put it on, something shifts inside of me," the star told E! News. "It's kind of impossible not to feel strength and empowerment and positivity and hope. It really is pretty surreal." ‘Supergirl’ Teases First Look at Jenna Dewan-Tatum as Lucy Lane (Photo) https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/supergirl-teases-first-look-jenna-dewan-tatum-lucy-175917735.html
Lois Lane’s little sister has arrived in National City, and the newest photo from CBS’ “Supergirl” shows Jenna Dewan-Tatum in character for the first time. The photo, shared via EW, shows Dewan-Tatum as Lucy in a scene with Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) and Supergirl herself, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist). The show will explore the character’s comic book roots of a romantic history with Jimmy, who’s now going by James on the show. This version of Lucy Lane is described as brash and funny and just as successful as her older sister.“We hope to explore the history that Lucy has with James Olsen — or, as Lucy knows him, Jimmy Olsen,” the show’s executive producer Ali Adler told EW. “I think we’re going to bring in her father. She not only plays a romantic foil with whatever Kara and James are brewing, but people will also be surprised that she’s really a woman’s woman. She and Kara develop their own friendship, too. We’re not just bringing her in to purposefully create tension. She serves a larger story drive.”

Supergirl Taps Salem Actor as DC Hero Red Tornado — But There's a Twist http://tvline.com/2015/09/01/supergirl-iddo-goldberg-cast-red-tornado/
There’s a storm brewing in National City this fall, courtesy of Iddo Goldberg. The Salem actor has been cast in Supergirl as Dr. T.O. Morrow, better known to DC Comics fans as the creator of android Red Tornado, TVLine has confirmed.Goldberg will not only play Morrow on the CBS series, but Red Tornado, as well. According to the official character description, “Red Tornado is the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City — including the people Supergirl cares about most.”Interestingly, T.O. Morrow and Red Tornado are not the same person in the original comics, nor is Red Tornado a villain, as it seems he might be on the small-screen adaptation. In addition to his role on WGN America’s Salem, Goldberg’s TV credits include Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Peaky Blinders, Mob City and Spike TV’s recent miniseries Tut.

‘Supergirl,’ ‘D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow’ Land at Australia’s Foxtel http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/supergirl-d-c-s-legends-of-tomorrow-foxtel-australia-1201592852/
Australia’s Foxtel has nabbed rights to “Supergirl” and “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” for its Fox8 channel in a licensing pact with Warner Bros. Television.Fox8 already carries “Arrow” and “The Flash,” the D.C. Comics cousins of “Legends of Tomorrow.” “Supergirl,” another D.C. property that is bound for CBS this fall, is a natural fit with the superhero cluster.“Supergirl” will premiere in Australia on Dec. 6, six weeks after the Greg Berlanti-produced drama takes flight on CBS. “Legends of Tomorrow” is slated for early 2016, as it is a midseason entry for the CW.Fox8 has yet to pick up any other new U.S. dramas for the coming season, underscoring the strong demand for superhero-branded properties that travel well around the world. “The Flash” and “Arrow” are among Fox8’s most-watched series.

‘Supergirl': Watch Melissa Benoist, Greg Berlanti, and More Discuss Kara’s Origins http://collider.com/supergirl-melissa-benoist-gerg-berlanti-discuss-origin-story/
CBS has posted a lot of clips from the Supergirl pilot and behind-the-scenes video on the series, but none of it really seems to be catching a spark. (You can read Dave’s review of the pilot from Comic Con, though keep in mind it’s going through extensive reshoots). The series, as most of you well know by now, comes from the executive producing team of Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Sarah Schecter, who all (or in part) are responsible for Arrow and The Flash on the CW. There are a lot of things to love about those series, so this will definitely have to be a wait-and-see situation. Currently, though, it feels like the show leaves something to be desired. As for this new clip, which you can view below, star Melissa Benoist and the executive producers weigh in on Kara’s past, and give a detailed look at her origin story, including how Superman fits in (or doesn’t fit in) to the picture. All of this feels pretty well hashed-out at this point, so the best part comes from co-star Mechad Brooks, who ends things by saying, “to truly be great you have to accept yourself.” Simple and true, and perhaps it portends that Supergirl will take its position at the vanguard of super-powered female role models (in the current TV and movie landscape, anyway) with dutiful positivity.Supergirl premieres Monday, October 26th at 8:30 p.m. ET

First Look At Iddo Goldberg As Red Tornado On Supergirl http://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/iddo-goldberg-red-tornado-supergirl/
A couple of weeks back it was announced that Iddo Goldberg would be playing Red Tornado/T.O. Morrow on CBS’ upcoming Supergirl. Now, we have our first look at the actor in the role, giving us a pretty good idea of how the advanced android will appear when he makes his first appearance on the highly-anticipated series.Of course, we’re still in the dark as to how exactly Goldberg will play both Tornado and Morrow. For those who don’t know, the latter is the one who created the android. He’s also kind of evil, while Tornado is a longtime Justice League member. The only hints we have as to how the character will factor into things is a description that was released at the time of Goldberg’s casting. It reads as follows:

Supergirl: First Look at Red Tornado...The most advanced android in the world poses a grave danger to Kara....... http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/09...ampaign=Feed:+ign/articles+(IGN+All+Articles)
A brand new image has been released of DC's Red Tornado from an upcoming episode of CBS’ Supergirl.Behind all that makeup and costuming is Iddo Goldberg (Salem, Peaky Blinders), here playing "the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow (also Goldberg) for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City -- including the people Supergirl cares about most."Check it out...

CBS to offer a new, 75-second preview of 'Supergirl' Monday night http://www.upi.com/Entertainment_Ne...view-of-Supergirl-Monday-night/1661442775191/

"After the trailer's broadcast debut, it will be available on www.youtube.com/supergirl."Starring Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood and Jeremy Jordan, Supergirl is set to premiere Oct. 26 and will be followed by a special 90-minute episode of Scorpion."It's not a bird. It's not a plane. It's not a man. It's Supergirl. In the new drama from the world of DC Comics, Superman's cousin, Kara Zor-El, embraces her superhuman abilities and becomes the hero she was always meant to be," a show synopsis said.

'Supergirl's Red Tornado looks eerily like Paul Bettany's Vision http://entertainthis.usatoday.com/2...rnado-looks-eerily-like-paul-bettanys-vision/
Supergirl is one of our most anticipated shows of the fall, and for good reason: It’s beating Marvel to the punch of having a female superhero as its lead (looking at you 2018’s Captain Marvel), it looks funny, charming and pretty darn sleek. We know The Flash does it pretty well, but it’s hard to have CGI and flying women on TV without looking kind of silly. And Supergirl seemed to be doing all right on this front until they released this image of Red Tornado, played by Idda Goldberg, one of Supergirl’s first major villains that she’ll be facing up against in the show. We’ve seen that look before … Yes, that looks exactly like Paul Bettany’s Vision from this summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. The facepaint, the weird face guard, it’s all there. Just redder and less cool-looking (hey they have a TV budget, can’t blame them). Everyone else noticed too, causing them to make jokes like this:

Is the final ‘Supergirl’ trailer promising the most amazingly campy comic book show ever? https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/final-supergirl-trailer-promising-most-152400827.html
Love it or hate it, the “Supergirl” show is barreling towards your television next month. Up until now very little was known about the show, other than that Kara works in a “Devil Wears Prada” type environment and has a pretty decent support network of friends and family. With this new trailer, fans finally get a look at Supergirl’s powers — including super-breath and heat vision — and where her rogues’ gallery is coming from. Space. They’re coming from space. You catch that? Fort Rozz has crashed, releasing some of the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals. For those that don’t know, Fort Rozz was a Kryptonian prison. Within the lore of the comic, Fort Rozz was sucked into the Phantom Zone when a prisoner transfer went sideways and the Phantom Zone Projector exploded. Eventually the inmates overpowered the guards and escaped. How this will be baked into the lore of “Supergirl” remains to be seen but the word “crash” implies a Monster-of-the-Week™ formula. As to the tone of the show? Supergirl appears to be embracing her Silver Age camp in all its goofy, fun glory. At least in the trailers, CBS seems to be taking a page more from “The Flash” than “Arrow.” Whether or not you think that’s a good thing is up to personal taste.

Supergirl: First Look At Maxwell Lord And More Villains http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Supergirl-First-Look-Maxwell-Lord-More-Villains-87287.html
It’s approximately a month to go until Supergirl airs on CBS, but before this week, all we’ve seen of the show so far is clips from the pilot. That's all changed now that the network has released new footage from later episodes, and in addition to seeing sights like Kara showing off new powers or her friend Winslow Schott finding out that Jimmy Olsen knows her secret too, we also get our first look at some of the villains she’ll be battling throughout the season. Let’s see who these new faces are.Chief among the adversaries seen in this trailer is tech mogul Maxwell Lord, played by Peter Facinelli. On the surface, Max may seem like a normal billionaire businessman, but comic book fans know better. Although he helped form the Justice League International in the comics, his life took a dark turn when he gained mind control powers and was outed as a full-fledged villain in Infinite Crisis. While it hasn’t been divulged whether he’ll go down a similar path in Supergirl, given his mysterious “interest” in the Girl of Steel, it’s a good bet he will. We also see him with his rival Cat Grant in the video, and later on Max is showing Cat’s son Carter around what may be his company.

Never-Before-Seen Footage Reveals Supergirl's Powers And The Foes She'll Face In New TV Series http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2015/09/22/neverbeforeseen-footage-reveals-superg
CBS pulled the lid off some new footage from next month's "Supergirl" premiere, revealing a whole bunch of never-before-seen footage from the series that features a whole lotta action! Actress Melissa Benoist stars as Kara Zor-El, aka the titular DC Comics superhero and cousin of Kal-El, aka Superman; and the footage reveals some of the dire situations that Supergirl faces, like robbers and ray gun-wielding bad guys. She'll also look to stop Hellgrammite -- an alien whose face opens up to reveal another row of teeth (think a more human Predator). The character was first introduced in the Superman comics in 1968 as entomologist Roderick Rose, whose experiments mutate him into a grasshopper-like insect. Naturally, Supergirl has the same powers as her Kryptonian cousin, like super-speed, laser vision, enhanced hearing, the ability to fly, etc., etc. -- but this is the first time we get to see her in action since Helen Slater played the role on the big screen way back in 1984. "Supergirl" debuts at 8:30pm on Monday, Oct. 26 after "The Big Bang Theory" -- the perfect lead-in for a brand new superhero TV series. The new teaser for the show dropped on Monday night, the same night that rival network Fox kicked off the second season of its hit DC Comics series "Gotham." Check it out below...

Meet The Cast Of Supergirl In New Featurette For The CBS Series http://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/meet-cast-supergirl-featurette-cbs-series/
CBS has released a new featurette for Supergirl today which introduces viewers to the cast of the highly anticipated series along with the characters they’ll be playing.Unfortunately, The CW decided against bringing Supergirl to their network, making any crossovers with their current roster of DC Comics superheroes somewhat unlikely. However, as the above video makes clear, the character is going to have more than enough to contend with, as she battles it out with comic book villains like Maxwell Lord and Red Tornado. If you haven’t really been following news on Supergirl or forgot all about it thanks to the hype surrounding the impending return of Arrow and The Flash, here’s the official synopsis to refresh your memory:
Supergirl - Meet The Supergirl Cast ......

Supergirl TV Show Following Original Superman Films, NOT Man of Steel http://screenrant.com/supergirl-cbs-tv-show-christopher-reeve-superman/
After some initial skepticism from select comic book fans, Supergirl is quickly becoming one of fall 2015’s most anticipated series. A girl-powered teaser trailer made some industry insiders question whether CBS was merely trying to replicate the success of CW’s DC shows with a female hero on a different network but early reactions to the Supergirl pilot episode have been mostly favorable. In the months since CBS pre-released the premiere, ahead of its network debut on October 26, 2015, the cast and crew have helped iron out a few lingering PR wrinkles – especially worries that Supergirl would rely on melodrama, rather than layered characters, to woo casual TV viewers. In numerous interviews the producers, actors, and crew behind the series have stressed that Supergirl isn’t about a female heroine, as a counterbalance to the many male heroes on TV; instead, the show charts the rise of a hero. Man of Steel-like super suit designs and modern visual effects might lead viewers to believe that Supergirl is taking cues from DC’s movie universe; however, despite increasing fervor for Henry Cavill’s return in Batman V Superman, Supergirl was primarily inspired by Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve’s Superman movies.Prior interviews have suggested as much – with producer Sarah Schechter outright telling Screen Rant that behind-the-scenes she, Andrew Kreisberg, Ali Adler, and Greg Berlanti all felt the lighthearted and hopeful tone of 1978’s Superman film was more appropriate for this Supergirl: [Donner’s movies] are really deeply implanted on our psyches.” Now, in our interview at New York Comic-Con, we’re hearing that original film series also informed at least one actor in front of the camera as well.Discussing where he drew inspiration from, in bringing “James” Olsen to Supergirl, True Blood actor Mehcad Brooks revealed that Marc McClure’s take on the iconic Daily Planet photographer was especially influential:

Supergirl Has Cast the Villain Non -- But There's a Twist! https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/supergirl-cast-villain-non-theres-twist-011400104.html
Kara will be facing a foe from her home planet this season on Supergirl.CBS' new drama has cast Chris Vance as the Kryptonian villain Non, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The character previously appeared in the first two of Christopher Reeves' Superman films as the muscle-bound, somewhat slow-witted henchman of General Zod, though his latest incarnation seems to be taking a bit of a different direction.Supergirl's Non is a former scientist with the House of El and a brutal Kryptonian military officer who stands to become the heroine's biggest threat.Vance previously starred in Transporter: The Series. He joins fellow guest stars Iddo Goldberg,Glenn Morshower, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Brit Morgan, Peter Facinelli and Chris Browning.

Transporter star Chris Vance Cast as Villain in Supergirl http://www.pastemagazine.com/articl...r-star-chris-vance-cast-as-villain-in-su.html
Transporter: The Series star Chris Vance has been cast as the villain Non in CBS’ Supergirl, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The former scientist Non is a vicious Kryptonian military officer who is the antithesis of everything Supergirl stands for. The strong, powerful and evil villain will pose as one of the heroine’s biggest adversaries.Supergirl producers Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg told reporters in August at TCA that their version of Non, who made an appearance in Richard Donner’s Superman II, would be a “slightly different take on the character.”Vance joins a cast that includes Jenna Dewan-Tatum as Lucy Lane, Glenn Morshower as Gen. Sam Lane, Iddo Goldberg as Red Tornado, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, Brit Morgan as Livewire and Chris Browning as Reactron.

'Supergirl' Female Empowerment Campaign Takes Flight http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...535e4b050c6c4a2cec0?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592
"Supergirl" hasn't even premiered yet and it's already inspiring legions of fans to answer the question: "Who is your Supergirl?" The CBS show follows Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), cousin to Superman, who arrives on earth roughly two decades after Clark Kent started wooing Lois Lane. On a television landscape increasingly dominated by male superheroes, "Supergirl" stands alone as the only female-fronted superhero show on television. The track record isn't much better on the big screen where female superhero movies have failed to draw crowds or critical acclaim.
