Supergirl TV Series Won’t Be On The CW

‘Supergirl’ Picked Up To Series At CBS https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/supergirl-picked-series-cbs-213023791.html
Supergirl, the superhero drama co-created and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, is flying high at CBS with an early series order. As part of the deal for the project between CBS and Warner Bros. TV, the network had an early deadline to make a decision on the pilot, a perk reserved only for the biggest producers in town that CBS also has bestowed on Chuck Lorre. (CBS, which presents next Wednesday, usually doesn’t start making orders until Friday or Saturday of pre-upfront week.)

What Does CBS Have Planned for ‘Supergirl’? http://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/what-does-cbs-have-planned-for-supergirl.html/?ref=YF
Following the boom in the popularity of comic book movies, there’s been a similar trend developing in TV. The CW has managed to create its own unique TV universe with Arrow, The Flash, and an upcoming spinoff set to feature a smattering of secondary heroes. Meanwhile, Marvel has used it as a medium to tie in its cinematic world, with Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and its own imminent spinoff on ABC. It was only a matter of time before another major network entered the fray, and so we have CBS finally green-lighting Supergirl.Given the fact that CBS and Warner Bros. both own equal shares in The CW, it’s become evident that they’re ready to take things off their smaller network and onto a much larger stage. CBS has long made its buck scoring high on the 24- to 50-year-old demographic. With a superhero show on the way, this could be its attempt to haul in a decidedly younger audience. The CW, on the other hand, has been defined by its teen viewers, thanks in large part to pulpier offerings in the drama department. If done right, we could see CBS end up moving in a whole new direction that’s centered around superheroes if Supergirl takes off the way executives hope it will.

Supergirl pilot leaks, good news! https://games.yahoo.com/news/supergirl-pilot-leaks-good-news-164502259.html
The pilot for the CBS television series Supergirl has leaked online, nearly six months before it was scheduled to air. There is both a standard-definition and high-definition version of the pilot, and according to reports there are none of the expected watermarks that would indicate the leak came from a copy intended for critics.Pop culture writer Laura Dale has been watching the show and tweeting some of her thoughts. We've seen this before, the pilot for the Flash leaked back in 2014, and that show has gone on to become a huge hit for the CW. This could even be good things for the show and the network, as pop culture sites have begun to write positive things based on the leaked episode.LauraKButtz @LaurakBuzz

Nice to see a super hero show with a light hearted humour. Not so great the humour is trying so very hard to be girl power humour.

An interesting detail, and a slight spoiler: The show exists a long time after the current slate of DC hero properties. LauraKButtz @LaurakBuzz

Yeah, Supergirl is set nearly a decade after the current DC cinematic universe entries it seems.

Yeah, it's VERY "see, it's a hero for women, look how much we made this exclusively for women".
"If you were put off by the show’s six-minute preview from last week, I can assure you the show is significantly better than that. It still some of the same issues, but it’s far more charming than problematic," io9 reported. There has been some speculation that this is all part of a marketing ploy to get positive buzz built around the show. "...Supergirl wouldn’t be the first time the question of intention came up concerning a Warner Bros. pilot leak," Forbes stated. "Back in 2008, the studio was thought to be the source of a leak surrounding the pilot of Fringe, a show that would go on to survive five seasons on Fox for a grand total of 100 episodes."The episode is out, people are talking about it, and the buzz already seems much more positive overall than after the first trailer.Supergirl premieres this November on CBS.

‘Supergirl’ Global Trailer: Earth Gains Another Superhero http://screenrant.com/supergirl-trailer-international-tv-series/ ...Supergirl trailer: Coming this fall to Global....In the vast DC Comics Universe of super heroes, the rich mythology of Superman, the planet Krypton and the House of El is perhaps the most famous and instantly recognizable. Enter Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Born Kara Zor-El on the doomed planet Krypton, the preteen Kara escaped at the same time as the infant Kal-El, but didn't arrive on Earth until many years later after being lost in the Phantom Zone. Protected and raised by her adopted family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to hide the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin. Years later, at age 24, living in National City and working as an assistant for Catco Worldwide Media mogul Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), Kara has spent so many years trying to fit in that she forgot to ever stand out. All that changes when she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always destined to be.......
One of the more noteworthy (if not the most noteworthy) comic book TV show adaptations on the horizon is Supergirl, CBS’ upcoming attempt to get in on the superhero entertainment game. The show was put into motion by such writers/producers as Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti, and Andrew Kreisberg, among others – many of whom have also worked on The CW’s DC superhero TV series Arrow and The Flash. However, until further notice, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) does not exist in the same universe as Arrow‘s Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and The Flash‘s Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).

Comic-Con reacts to Supergirl pilot: 'I'm absolutely speechless' http://www.ew.com/article/2015/07/09/supergirl-comic-con
Comic-Con got the first (legal) look at CBS’ eagerly anticipated Supergirl pilot at the opening night of the San Diego fan mega-convention Wednesday night. The verdict? Based on Twitter reactions from the screening, fans were overwhelmingly positive about the first episode (which also “leaked” onto file-sharing services in May shortly after its series order), and they were especially glowing toward star Melissa Benoist. Here’s a sample of responses, culled from both media pros and everyday fans:

Supergirl: Laura Vandervoot Is In Talks to Appear on CBS's New Drama https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/supergirl-laura-vandervoot-talks-appear-160700684.html
Hold the phone, y'all. Laura Vandervoort just blew the lid off Comic-Con. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly on Thursday, the actress, who currently stars as werewolf Elena Michaels on the Canadian supernatural drama Bitten, said she is currently in talks to appear on CBS's new Supergirl series. "Hopefully I get to be a part of it at some point. Which is looking good," Vandervoort said. "Maybe." Vandervoort played Kara Zor-El/Supergirl on The CW's Smallville from 2007 to 2011. Glee's Melissa Benoist will slip on Kara's cape on the new CBS drama when it debuts Monday, October 26.If Vandervoort does make this happen, she'll be the third such cameo (that we know of so far) to appear on the new series. Dean Cain, who starred as Clark Kent/Superman in the '90s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman, and Helen Slater, who portrayed Kara in the 1984 film Supergirl, both make cameos in the pilot. So, uh, does anyone know what Tom Welling is up to these days?

Peter Facinelli Has Joined Supergirl – But Will He Be Good or Evil? http://www.tvguide.com/news/peter-facinelli-supergirl/
On Saturday night, Warner Brothers and DC Comics showed off their slate of CW programming at Comic-Con. The last panel was for Supergirl, which premieres this fall. The producers revealed Melissa Benoist was actually the first Supergirl contender they looked at.After discussing the importance of women in front of and behind the camera, they announced a couple of villains who will be on the show this fall: Reactron and Live Wire.Oh, and one more person: Maxwell Lord. He's a tech mogul who's fascinated by Supergirl in the comic series."Will he be good or evil?" the moderator asked. "He can be both.""Why don't we ask him?" one of the producers responded. And out walked... Peter Facinelli! He said it was his first Comic-Con since the Twilight days and he was thrilled to be joining the cast.Supergirl will premiere on Oct. 26 at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.

Supergirl to Introduce Lucy Lane AKA Jimmy Olsen's Ex... AKA Superwoman? https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/supergirl-introduce-lucy-lane-aka-203050985.html
Is Supergirl heading for a super love triangle, or something far more problematic?TVLine has learned that the third episode of CBS’ freshman superhero series will introduce the recurring character of Lucy Lane. In her mid-20s to early 30s, Lucy is described as as brash, funny and beautiful as her sister Lois, yet strong, smart and successful in her own right. She is also, in keeping with DC Comics lore, an ex-girlfriend of Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) new CatCo media conglom colleague, Daily News transplant Jimmy Olsen (played by Mehcad Brooks). At the very least, given Kara’s insta-crush on Jimmy in the series pilot, some semblance of a triangle may be in Supergirl’s future. Or, possibly much more is on tap, given that Lucy Lane is one of several DC Comics characters to have adopted the Superwoman mantle, manipulated as she was into a run of anti-Supergirl villainy by her father General Sam Lane.Lucy was most recently portrayed on TV on The CW’s Smallville, by Peyton List (now The Flash‘s Lisa Snart). Who should play her on Supergirl?CBS’ Supergirl takes flight Monday, Oct. 26 at 8:30/7:30c, before moving into its regular Mondays-at-8 time slot.

‘Supergirl': Is Superwoman Joining the Show? http://screenrant.com/supergirl-superwoman-lucy-lane-casting/
CBS is set to throw its hat in the superhero ring later this year with Supergirl, the latest in the seemingly endless parade of DC Comics television adaptations. The series was co-created by Greg Berlanti of The Flash/Arrow fame and tells the story of Kryptonian Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) as she struggles to fit in on an alien planet while keeping her amazing powers in check. After the pilot was shown to the public at San Diego Comic-Con, it became clear that the supporting cast is one of the strong points of the series. The series notably features James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), a former Daily Planet photographer who is now working with Kara at CatCo. It’s been clear since the first trailer that Olsen will be a love interest for Kara. However, it now seems that she’ll have stiff competition in that regard – perhaps even super-powered competition.

New ‘Supergirl’ Featurette Goes Behind The Scenes on Episode 2 http://screenrant.com/supergirl-episode-2-featurette/?ref=yfp
With the pilot episode completed – and publicly screened for fans at San Diego Comic-Con – the cast and crew of Supergirl have moved on to the filming the rest of CBS’ venture into the world of costumed superheroes. They certainly aren’t pacing themselves, either, with appearances from Lucy Lane, Maxwell Lord, and even a new villain already confirmed. To celebrate production beginning on the series proper, a new behind the scenes featurette has been released, giving a first look at the sequence which will begin Episode 2, and how Kara Zor-El’s (Melissa Benoist) powers will be put to the test.

Meet the New Characters in SUPERGIRL http://collider.com/dc-tv-shows/
The DC Comics Television Universe has been gaining more and more momentum with its current run of successful series on The CW network. Also slated for release this fall is DC’s Supergirl on CBS, which hails from Arrow/The Flash/Legends of Tomorrow creators/executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti (though Ali Adler will serve as showrunner). While a crossover between the Supergirl-verse and the CW Network’s established world is still up in the air, producers haven’t ruled it out completely.

‘Supergirl’ Will Feature ‘Superman II’ Villain Non https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/supergirl-feature-superman-ii-villain-non-171758310.html
Non, the Kryptonian villain who served General Zod in “Superman II,” will appear in the CBS series “Supergirl,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed Monday at the show’s TCA panel in Los Angeles. The character was played by Jack O’Halloran in the 1980 Richard Donner film. He was a mute Kryptonian who served the evil General Zod in his quest for world domination. However, Kreisberg revealed that the show’s take on the character will be very different. “Like in the comic books, the Non that you saw in ‘Superman II’ had been lobotomized, and when we meet him he won’t have been lobotomized yet,” Kreisberg told TheWrap. No word yet on if Zod will appear on the series, however.

Supergirl Adds Three More DC Comics Characters—Is One of Them Superman? https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/supergirl-adds-three-more-dc-comics-characters-one-174530932.html
This article, Supergirl Adds Three More DC Comics Characters—Is One of Them Superman?, originally appeared on TVGuide.com.When Supergirl premieres Monday, Oct. 26, she'll be bringing a few familiar DC Comics characters with her for the ride. Joining previously announced characters Reactron (Chris Browning, The 100), Maxwell Lord (Peter Facinelli, Nurse Jackie) and Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Witches of East End) will be General Sam Lane, the Red Tornado, and Non. The news was announced by executive producer Andrew Kreisberg at the Television Critics Association fall previews on Monday.Unfortunately, there's still one very famous name missing from that list, and according to the show's producers, fans shouldn't expect to see Kara's (Melissa Benoist) more famous cousin anytime soon. "[Superman] will be a factor in her life, but you won't see him on screen," said Geoff Johns, chief creative officer at DC Comics. However, Johns did confirm that despite the fact the character will remain hidden off-screen for now, he will "play a part in her evolution of becoming a superhero."

Supergirl Just Added Its Craziest Comic Book Villain Yet - http://www.cinemablend.com/televisi...k-Villain-Yet-78767.html#sthash.IU3I7y7d.dpuf
Over the last month, we’ve learned about some of the villains that Supergirl will be facing when her TV series airs later this year. These adversaries, who are a mix of aliens and enhanced humans, so far include Vartox, Reactron and Livewire, all enemies of the Superman family in the comics. Now the series has announced Kara Zor-El’s craziest foe yet: Hellgrammite, one of the weirdest characters in the DC Comics universe.EW is reporting that actor Justice Leak has been cast to play Hellgrammite in one of the early Supergirl episodes. He is described as an “alien that Supergirl will be chasing,” which deviates from his comic book background of him originally being a human. No other details have been revealed about what this iteration of the character will be like, but depending on what’s in store for him and how well he is received by viewers, maybe Hellgrammite will be lucky enough to become a recurring enemy for the Girl of Steel. It will be especially interesting to see if his insect-like appearance will be retained or if the show will make him look more normal.
