Ok i just ordered the new dish latino hd plantinum :D Well i was told by the dish lady i must allow the installer to install the vip211 or i have to pay full price for it. So im letting the guy install it but he aint touching any of my other gear  I told the lady i dont want/need a dish 1000 she said thats up to me and the installer so ill find out on friday lol. Anyways here is my signal strenghts on my second D500 pointed at the 129. I guess there is no Tp 25,26,28,& 29 cause it skips those?

Tp#'s Tp#'s Tp#'s Tp#'s
01. 63% 11. 72% 21. 61% 31. 75%
02. 75% 12. 83% 22. 71%
03. 74% 13. 83% 23. 71%
04. 69% 14. 75% 24. 63%
05. 60% 15. 76% 25. --
06. 72% 16. 75% 26. --
07. 74% 17. 71% 27. 71%
08. 69% 18. 69% 28. --
09. 82% 19. 71% 29. --
10. 88% 20. 65% 30. 71%

That sure beats what I get here in SoCal. I have the dedicated d500 for 129 and today the signal strengths are between 61 and 68 with TP8 at 62 and TP19 at 61. TP8 & 19 are the two TP's that carry the LA HD locals and they are the weakest.

May 12th the signal strength was between 57 and 66 so I guess today is one of the good days.

Thanks for the info soo it looks like im still hoovering around the same signal strenghts. Hey does anyone know if i choose not to upgrade to the D1000 right now will i have to pay for an upgrade in the future say to see the new 118 people are talking about?

Oh, man im beginning to think i bit the bullet too soon cause im now having problems with my 311 not seeing the 119 satellite? The other day i couldnt lock on to the 110 im getting fed up lol. I also am very fed up with att's take over on my sbc dsl wich now runs like crap and drops connection alot. I just called yesterday to order the vip211 install scheduled friday. You guys think i can change my mind and cancel upgrade and choose to go with comcast? Their internet is faster than my dsl and should drop everytime i recieve/male a call. Comcast cable isnt that great here but atleast i wont have to reset my boxes everyday. I might just be rabling but att is pissing me off it used to work great when it was sbc. I guess im done spaming my own thread sheww..

So its all up and running just waiting on a new 311 i had the installer call in to replace it cause its having trouble locking on the 119 and sometimes the 110. I also kept the two d500's and got a free d1000 here in my living room lol the installer let me have it hehe. So i have a new d1000 if i move i can just install it and call in for an address change hehe.

If the upgrade is free, why not take down you second D500 and whatever switch you used, then let the installer put in new stuff. You could sell the other D500 and switch or just have them as spares.

Robdoggz,

If you think you won't have drops with Comcast, think again. Yes, it is likely faster.
I get dropped every 5 days to 5 times a day. I have only internet with them, <$32 w/tax. They said initially you had to pay extra without cable but that was not true, so far. Of course, they have digital but not HD and have not made any noise about it.

Your 129 signal strengths when using a D500 pointing at 129 (assume you used the I-bracket?) may be the same as someone else with a D1000. However there is a very good chance that your 110 & 119 signals are stronger with your other D500 than theirs are with the D1000.

I haven't read of a setup yet with the D1000 where the across the board signal strength was top notch.

As to getting the 118.7 bird, you would need a D1000+, which is a different dish than a standard D1000. So if you go with the current D1000, you are no closer to getting 118.7 than you are now.

Tom, I was thinking about splitting my D1000, means seperating the 129. But I am unsure about putting 129 on the 1000, and the 119/110 on my old 500. Or putting the 129 on the old 500 and 119/110 on the 1000. I don't know on which dish the 129 would get a better gain. What do you think?

SF Bay Area locals are up

Dish won't let me add a 2nd HD receiver
