Came home today to see two Verizon subcontractor trucks in my neighborhood, with a big spool of orange fiber conduit.

FiOS TV in Herdon, VA
I just got an email from Verizon concerning FiOS video service coming to my area, Herndon, VA, and they told me that the service won't be available in my area until Fall-Winter 2008. I already have FiOS internet service but I don't have the video service and what makes it so bad I live right between 2 central offices (CO) one is in Reston, VA and the other is at Dulles. For cable I have Cox and I don't like it at all. I see numerous upon numerous Verizon vehicles in my neighborhood installing stuff and digging up the ground. That is my latest update about FiOS video service.

I sure they come out with a vastly improved HD DVR by the time we move. If not, then its off to Costco for a couple of Series 3/Tivo HD boxes.
Actually, I plan to stick with Dish. I love the ViP622. I'll use Fios for phone and internet. You're right, for me to consider them for video they'd have to come out with an HD DVR equivalent to the ViP622 AND price everything so low I'd get payback in a year or 2 at the most.
