1st post to Sat Guys - thanks for all the great info to all that post regularly. I recently "moved" from Temple, TX to Austin, TX for the HD locals. My bill lists the Austin address as my service address, but the program guide still doesn't have the Austin HD locals listed. I have a 622 and a 211. I've reset both and did a check switch with the 211 to no avail. Any advice? Thanks.

There are no HD locals for Austin, TX.

Before you move, make sure the locals are available and you are in the beam's coverage.

Are the HD locals spot beamed too? From what I understood, only the SD locals are spot beamed. That may explain why I'm not getting my Salt Lake City locals in North Dakota.

Put an outdoor antenna in your attic. You should get locals just fine from AUstin . It's a lot less hassle. Plus you get the sub channels. I would not move again soon they will know what you are trying .

I live here in Round Rock, and am waiting with baited breath for Dish to get Austin HD Locals up on the birds.

I get them fine OTA, but would like the flexibility with the new TV season, but suspect I'll be waiting till sometime in 2008. :(

@#%!!! Sorry dudes - I'm a moron. I just assumed they were there w/out checking it out. How long do you think I should wait before moving somewhere that acutally has HD locals?

What general area are you located and what satellites do you have your system pointed at? We can suggest a few different markets and have you check signal strength before you call.

I get the Waco, TX locals. My system setup shows 119, 110 and 129. Thanks for the help.

Moving isn't a crime; its not like he isn't PAYING for the locals. He just made a mistake. It happens.

Well, with the 129 you can pickup the following Conus HD locals. Los Angeles, Chicago, Albuquerque, Denver, Nashville, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and Kansas City. Just pick a city, and "move" to its service area.

Check your signals on 110 TP 31 and 110 TP 4.

TP 4 is Houston and TP 31 is Dallas. I wouldn't recommend the San Antonio locals as their NBC is not available yet.

Signal strength is 59 on 110 TP31 and 18 on 110 TP4. What's the minimum needed?

You need at least 60 to get a good lock. You'll also notice that the signal levels will vary throughout the day. I wouldn't mess with a city that doesn't give me 65 or better. You also need to check at 4 hour intervals to ensure there is no dead time.

When I lived in Vegas, I could see the Phoenix spot beams in the evening and the Los Angeles beams during the morning hours. Couldn't see either one in the afternoon.

Replace Dish 500 with 1000.2 with 2 cables from dish

$60 to add HD to my programming??
