In response to the email question asking if there were any plans to change the four tuner limit, Charlie said yes, and Jim said something like we're always reviewing our policies. The fact that there wasn't a straight answer is not surprising. Since the question was emailed this afternoon and they had plenty of time to work up an answer, I can only assume that they gave different answers on purpose. Amazing.

I know. It doesn't make sense to me either unless you have to tin foil your triple lnb for 110/119/129 . THere is talk about another damn sat dish called the dish 1000.4 and another one called the 1000.5 . God help us if we need to upgrade to one of these dishes to get the arc service. Why would we need to look at any other slot than 61.5 , if that is where the arc service is going to be located? Scott said that he doesn't know yet but that details would be coming , wait for it..., wait for it.... ,SOON!
MGM and MORE MAX in HD soon, plus SCI-FI? I will be on the phone first thing tomorrow to downgrade to the HD Essentials pack. The extra 10 bucks for the VOOMs, HDNET Movies, and UNI-HD are so not worth it. Where is SPEED HD? I thought they would pick that up for sure...
Even if half of those channels show up by the end of the year they may be getting a lot of downgrade calls.
But if you get all of those 25 hd channels added to the stand alone hd pack for 29.99 , that is a good deal. That would be like 63 hd channels for 29.99. But I am sure if they do add all these to the stand alone pack for hd that we will end up with some kind of price increase. Except of course the premium movie channels like Moremax and Starx edge, and Hbo 2 , the would only come with the subscription to the premium movie packs.
As much as I'd like to rip on the charlie chat tonight it actually was pretty good. The best charlie or tech chat in a long time IMHO. It seemed like the guys were pretty relaxed, they talked pretty openly and it didn't seem like too many of the questions were scripted.
If all would come from 61.5, what do you need a 1000.4 or 1000.5 for? You only need one location, but need a LNBF or other plausible solution to work with multiple receivers.. Right now I'm feeding a 622 and a 722 off my 1000.2. If someone could confirm this to work, I'll buy a DP Dual for my old D500 and hook it to the input on my 1000.2. But pepper said he has something similar like that, and the other day the reciver told him no signal in fog, even having the same stuff coming from 61.5 and 129. If this is not a dependable solution, then I'll have to throw the 1000.2 out and replace it with 61.5 only, BUT with a DP Dual, I'll need a switch to feed both DVR's. This kinda sux.
Scott just said it looks like the new dish 1000.4 /1000.5 maybe just for arc customers who need their international channels off of 118.5 or 129 sats. He said more to come as he learns it.
Well I don't have the internationals, and btw a single dish looking from 61.5 to 129??? Gimme a break!
Does anybody know if the Eastern Arc pacakge will cost more? Also I wonder if they will make a new receiver for the Non-Hd tvs, because isn't the 625 MPEG-2?
They had a list,but they didn't mention my Wichita Falls locals like Scott's list did.
Eastern Arc in the beginning phases will help with HD LIL. Eastern Arc does nothing at this time for national HD. There's no way Dish can launch HD channels on a bird that the entire country cannot see. Despite other folks who insist it's a CONUS bird, it's a CONUS bird in title only.
I have a feeling most of the HD will be populated after CIEL 2 is in place at 129 so they can offer packages CONUS. In ther meantime we'll see 5 or 6 national channels dropped in on whatever bandwidth is available on 110 119 129 and 61.5.
Yeah I guess the Greenville, NC locals that was on the press release list really did mean Greenville, SC. Oh well, I had a very good feeling it was a mistake but I was holding out a little hope it was true.
IT is not so much a package as a new place to get existing channels in hd /sd in mpeg 4 at a new slot ; 61.5. There maybe some kind of new smart card needed and maybe a new lnb or switch but we don't know yet as no details have been nailed down , just speculation. So wait till they tell us before you panic. I am hoping by early June we will all know what to do and where to point our dishes etc. By the way , Yes the 625 is an mpeg 2 receiver.
