Hi,

I'm looking to get D* when I move in the next couple of months. I'll be moving to SE VT where we're still waiting to get HD locals (due to small size of Boston area spotbeam). However, I noticed that I'll qualify for neighboring locals in the Burlington area. They don't currently have HD locals in Burlington, but I'm curious, when they do, will those Burlington neighboring locals be available in HD as well or SD only?

I suppose I'm also just curious about the idea of whether neighboring locals in general are/will be available in HD or if it depends on the location. What do you think?

Directv has been adding some more HD locals to D10 and will have capability for many more when D11 is operational in a month or so. A complete list hasn't been made public yet, however.

I get 2, 4, and 5 from NY as svc, but only 4 in hd. That's because our local NBC is O & O.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the replies.

I'm realizing, though, that I must not have asked my primary question very clearly. I wasn't actually asking for a timeframe for when specific locals would go live in HD but rather a more general question. If neighboring local channels that I qualify to receive are available in HD, will I be able to get them in HD or will D* give neighboring locals in SD only? If one can receive neighboring locals in HD in addition to the standard DMA locals, I can foresee some folks possibly getting more like 8 local channels instead of the four that most people get. Does anyone know D*'s policy on neighboring locals in HD?

I thought I answered you, I'll try again. You won't get them in hd unless one of them is an O & O.

Whatever happened to the Significantly Viewed Channels" that was talked about awhile back, I think 1 or 2 cities have them, what happened to the rest of the country and what makes a SV channel available or not ?
