I finally bought me a HD LCD and have decided to dump Dish after almost 8 years. I want the locals in HD. My current dish is installed about 12ft off the ground with an unobstructed few of the sky. I currently have 3 rg-6 cables running into the house. One goes to ech box an additonal was ran as an extra during the original install. I am want to add 2 HD DVR's to the new Direct system. I plan on using each one to feed an additional tv. I also want to be able to watch one thing and record another. I have heard about a new system which will allow a single wire install. Is this available in the Cincinnati market? (45212). If not, how many RG-6 cables should I install before the install? I want to do this ahead of time as the others were ran while I had remodeling going on and now I will have to run them through a closet that is next to where the dish is mounted. Should I run additional for future use or is this single wire install the wave of the future? Thanks for your help.

The single wire solution is being very tightly rolled out and if the installer can find a way to work you out, it will NOT be used.

Run at least 2 RG6 line to each room that will have a HD-DVR.

Run at least 1 RG6 line to the others (I would do the 2 in case you upgrade there later).

After the 4th tuner you will get a multi-switch provided. 4 RG6 line will come from the new 5 LNB dish to this switch, and then all the "house" RG6 line will connect here.

So if I understand this correctly, have 4 RG-6 from the satellite into the house. These will run to a central location, in my case they all go to the basement and are distributed from there. I have already ran 2 RG-6 to each room in the house and they are all dropped to the basement where the cables from the sat. come to. So if I add 2 more wires from the sat. down I should be good?

Sounds right to me, just need 4 wires from dish to switch in the basement.

Two wires to each dvr, one wire to each regular receiver from the switch.

Always remember to check signal on all satellites and receivers and test the DVR functions before you let the installer leave :)

Hi... I had BlueGrass Sat. do my install (your general area) and they were quite good about mounting the Slimline dish and running four new RG6 cables to a new Zinwell switch in the basement. He had to mortar drill four new holes. Remember on your self-run lines, you can have NO splitters or combiners (I had several in my OTA system with E*.) They will bust the signal for sure. Don't hesitate to message me if you have any other specific question. I think you'll really like D*, especially if you're having issues getting our locals OTA. That was the decision maker for me when I switched last summer.
