One of the features I miss the most since switching from Dish to DirecTV is the ability to split screen the two tuners. I also miss the "swap" button that allowed you to switch between the tuners quickly.

Does anybody know if DirecTV is considering adding the split screen or PIP at any point?

That would require them to add dual tuners to receivers, which is done in a DVR but the "2nd line" isn't accessible.. $5 a month and you can get PiP :)

Kind of a odd way to get PIP (changing tuner inputs, thats not really PIP either)
Buing a second rec. is not the same as PIP, what your advising would only work IF his TV currently has PIP built in to it.
That is not what he's asking about, but a work around IF the TV would handle it.

I don't know why E* folk are so married to that crap. Seriously. Having a second box means that you don't have to point your RF remote just right (I had that crap for a year) or if your box is broken, you still have an extra, etc. Plus, I don't want my HD receiver sending SD content to my second TV, I want a second HD box. I wouldn't ever want to go back to a single box with 2 tuners.

He's talking about Picture in Picture not the TV2 feature.

Personally this is my only feature that I miss from the 622 I had. I don't think that Directv will add the feature because it would also require that they have DLB and it has not been added yet even that it has been the biggest complaint over the past year or so.

I would like the PIP or split screen from the box, as my TV doesn't do it.

I haven't heard anything about D* doing it, but it was kind of a suprise when Dish did it too.

I too have resorted to just using a second box, which has it's own benefits - like recording 4 things.

How does the second box help if your TV does not support PIP?
