DISH Network Charges Forward With Another Round of National HD Channel Launches

Smithsonian AFAIK is true 24/7 HD.

I believe that MGM and Hallmark show movies in HD

Thanks. Smithsonian is the only one I'm REALLY interested in, and my wife has some interest in MGM & Hallmark. She also would like to see the wife beater channel in HD. Sigh.

What a great time to have signed up with Dish and the DishHD package! I have had it less than a month and 19 net new HD channels! Is this gonna happen every month! :D I hope so!

Now all *I* need is Comedy Central HD (I just want the channel and don't care if it is HD or not) and I will be very happy.
Aren't you wishing for your "avatar" HD channel?;)

Here is a question. I know this isn't the proper thread. But, I am a ATT Dish Customer. Am I still eligible?? Thanks!

***edit*** for the cinemax deal

So I have the 10 dollar HD package what new channels will I get? Any of these new ones hot yet? Thanks all!! Called dish to ask and the CSR had no clue about the new HD.

DirtyTurbin,

If you have the 10 Dollar HD Esstential package, then you will get all the HD versions of the channels you get in your SD Core package. So the answer depends on what core package you have, Top 100, Top 200, or Top 250.

You will not get the Smithsonian HD, nor MGM HD channels those are exclusive to the Ultimate HD package. To get the new Cinemax HD channels you must subscribe to the Cinemax package (currently if you call up Dish and switch to Paperless Billing, or Credit Card Autopay you can get Cinemax for 2 years for ONE penny for each year).

I have a question about these new HD channels, I dont have Dish but the parents do. Do these channels fall under a differernt package or if you have HD they are just added...thanks for the info.

How does anyone arrive at 90+ National HD channels?

Minus my locals and RSN, and excluding PPV and sports packages, I come up with 62.

They count whatever is convenient to count. In this case I believe that they do count the RSNs even though the only way to get them all is to sub to the sports pack and even then you would miss most of the HD content because the major league games are blacked out.

Anyone else find it strange that they listed 4 channels that have been live for a while now? (NESN, CNN, USA and Sci-Fi)? Looks like the list is missing 5 channels from the reported temps list: Mojo, Showtime 2, Showtime West, WGN Superstation, and TMC East.

I don't see NESN listed. It does appear below but says that it wasa recent addition.. I admit that they are inflating the count but I am happy with adds regardless of the count.

Any idea when the lawsuit might be settled? Do you think it wil be years and years, etc?

Probably.. and then add another century for Dish to come to terms with FOX for a carriage agreement and another decade to get it uplinked. Who knows, by then DISH will have another satellite or two put up and will have enough bandwidth carry the channel in FULL HD. So it could be SOON!

I guess it will be a while for the Speed Channel.

Not if you include MLB EI. This is one thing I go over and over on every forum. RSN's should be counted as they are available nationally. If one gets every individual sports package (which many Direct subs do), then they are available 24/7 as well. This is no different than any other premium package or channel, so why should they not be included in the national count (at least with Direct)?

Has this question been answered yet, will all the new HDs be on 129 and if so are they going to be more compressed due to BW issue or DISH actually has enough room on 129 to add them? When I say enough room I consider 7 HDs (or whatever the current number) on one transponder limit.

Ah, but since you can't get the EI package or Sunday Ticket with E* doesn't make much sence to count them as national especially since they are only on for games (which you can't get out of area).
