We just bought a Toshiba LCD TV and hooked the Wii to it. We had previously used the Wii on a crt TV. The picture looks great and most games play the same, the exception being the target shoot on Wii Play. The aiming cursor seems to move much more slowly on the LCD than the CRT, and the proof is in our much lower scores! Is there any kind of setting to take into account what seems to be a slower response from the LCD TV?

The Wii controllers don't "see" the display, so it doesn't really matter much what the technology is. The issue is more likely related to the sensor placement.

The sensor placement is the same as it was, just below the screen. I wonder if the LCD technology just doesn't respond as fast as the crt.

I don't have any problems on my Samsung LCD. I have my sensor bar on top of my tv and I'm using component cables to connect th wii to the tv.

Have you checked all of the Wii system settings? You may want to verify that the sensor bar setting is still indicating the correct positioning.

hmmm... interesting... wonder if resolution size matters in on screen response due to the fact that the wii has to refresh a heck of a lot more pixels on a higher res screen?

It isn't like the Wii does 1080p. In fact, it has a rather narrow range of screen widths (640-854?) and the vertical matrix is fixed at 480 lines. Anamorphic means that the matrix doesn't change. It simply uses the same set of pixels slightly differently; as if they were rectangular.

It is remotely possible that the conversion circuitry of your TV is slow at doing SD, but I sincerely doubt it.

Was your old CRT a widescreen?

If not, you need to set your Wii settings for widescreen.

Looking at the overwhelming response of "No, we don't have that same problem," Maybe you just have a broken tv?

Couple things. Get the component cables so that the Wii is 480p not 480i. The interlacing throws the timing off.

Also make sure the Wii is set for widescreen mode. :D

Good point. We switch the Wii fromvarious TVs- CRT-Rp, LCD and DLP. Always the sensor is on top and we use component cables.

I used both the 480p and 480i modes no problem on a Sammy DLP. Can you calibrate the controllers? I do not remember if that is possible. I do know sensor placement is critical.

I would also imagine going from a 4:3 ratio to 16:9 ratio changes your movement and timing (more screen width). I know it sounds crazy, but when i changed screen sizes all my gaming ajusted. after years of a one size the upgrade threw my senses for a loop until I adjusted. Now I have trouble playing on a 4:3 tv and my scores suffer. I guess I am saying your senses and movements may need to ajust to the new size, rather than a tech issue.

Have it set for widescreen. The component cables seems like a good idea and I have looked for them at local stores but can not find any. Where can they be purchased? Thanks.

I picked mine up at Sams club (came with Nikio Charge station and batteries). I think gamestop carries them as well.
