Of course this is my fault for not checking my bill. I blame DTV for trying to pull a fast one, and by going paperless. Guess I have to watch my bills more closely now.

Last year my HD receiver died. They had to put a new dish on the roof for the new receiver. The problem was, they never disconnected the old receiver. I figured the tech did it. I was paying for a receiver I was not using. But looking at my bills, there was a long time where I had the correct amount of receivers. It wasn't until this January that I started paying for an extra receiver.

In January I got another HD receiver to replace a very old regular one. The new HD receiver did not work. It kept trying to download and wouldn't stay running. I got another one and it worked. When it was working I finally turned my old one off. This was when I started to pay for an extra receiver, which the tech said was the first HD one that failed.

Somewhere in here they added a protection plan to my account. First the person said I would not have gotten a second HD receiver at the price I did without it. Then he said the paperwork would have been in the box for the second receiver. I always read what I get. I know there was no paperwork informing me of a protection plan. Again, my fault for not looking at my bills but still I am upset.

Thanks for letting me vent.

They probably did it as an upgrade work order, which installs the new receiver and dish if needed, but doesn't do anything to the old receviers unless you or the tech calls in to shut them off. From Jan-May, you're talking $25 max.

As for the protection plan thing, I have no idea.

Had he not had the Protection plan they would not have sent him a new rec. for next to nothing (Shipping, I would guess).

Do you mean the second HD I specifically ordered or when the second one failed? The one that failed didn't fail out of the box but never worked either. I wouldn't have accepted a charge if they wouldn't have replaced it.

I know it's not much money but the amount should not matter. I am just adding to the other problems people have been talking about.

It really doesn't matter when it failed, if you have the PP it will/should be covered.

That is the purpose of the PP, if you didn't have it, they would charge you at least the shipping, probably more.

The PP also covers as mentioned before, dish fine tuning, replacing of any dish/lnb's, cableing, switches ...
