1. The Detroit Pistons are the Atlanta Braves of basketball

2. Should Flip Saunders get one more year or is he done in Motown?

3. Regardless of their loss, I have to give Billups and Hamilton credit for their gutsy performance

4. The happiest people in America are David Stern, Lance Berkman, Josh Hamilton, and Chipper Jones.

5. HD MM owes Ray Allen an apology- he still DOES have game.

6. Believe it or not, I actually get TWO Fox Saturday games- one on channel 6, the other on channel 13

7. Ozzie Guillen and Lou Piniella are the favorites to win AL and NL Manager of the Year

8. Who's gonna be the starting pitchers for the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium?

9. ABC isn't all too happy- they did get Lakers/Celtics, but they would have loved a winner-take-all Game 7 on Sunday night

10. How long does it take to do a triathlon, in Sandra's case?

11. The toughest jobs in America are Cowboys coach, Yankees manager, and Red Wings goalie.

12. If Barry Melrose takes the Lightning coaching job, what the hell is going to happen to ESPN's NHL coverage next year?

13. Who will be the first baseball managers to get fired?

14. The Washington Nationals need to get a big-name player to get some more filled seats in their new stadium.

15. Anyone else going to watch highlights of those old Lakers/Celtics Finals in the 1980s to pump themselves up for this year's NBA Finals?

16. I hope we can have a thread on the 2008 NHL Draft

12. ESPN has hockey coverage? you mean that 30 second stuff in sports center, that's no coverage?

13. Texas

16. Channel 215

1. Hardly ... how many championships do the Braves have ???
Pistons have 5 :up

8. Better question, is a Yankee playing well enough to be a All Star starter ?
Going to be kinda odd with only 1 Yankee in the game at home.
I'm sure Alex Rodreguiz will make it in and the FANS will vote others in even if they don't deserve it.

11. The toughest jobs in America are Cowboys coach, Yankees manager, and Red Wings goalie.
Your kidding , right ...
How tough has it been to be a Yankees manager the past 30 years, they have went out and bought the players they wanted at any time, or as soon as a good playeras contract is getting close to the end.
Filling out the line up card for them must be a real chore.
Normally the Cowboys do the same as the Yankees.
Toughest job in sports, Red Wings Goalie or Lions QB.
Anyone remember Tim Cheveldae ???

12. ESPN's hockey coverage ended when numbnuts didn't renew the TV contract with them.

When I made the Braves/Pistons comparison, I wasn't talking about the 'Bad Boys' era, but the 21st Century version.

The Pistons from 2002-2008: during that stretch, they have had a string of phenomenal regular seasons, multiple division titles, and a few trips to the championship round, but only one title and a string of tough losses with the league/conference crown at stake.

Doesn't THAT sound like the Braves in the 1990s?

As for the Cowboys coach and Yankees manager and Red Wings goalie, I was referring to the pressure and scrutiny they were usually under.

When they and their teams don't do well, they really hear about it.
(Look what happened to Legace after the 2006 playoffs, or Barry Switzer when he was the Cowboys' coach.)

But you didn't say you were excluding most of the years the team has been there, why limit it to a few years, any team could find good and bad years of a certian stretch of time.

As for the coach , manager or goalie ... the goalie ALWAYS has the tougher job.
People will always complain when a team goes south and the coach always gets the attention, have them actually lace them up and get run over and then tell them that they are also expected to stop the 100 mph puck or the 10 mph fluttering puck at the same time.

A coach may take the heat, but the player is the one that has to go out there and perform.

5. HD MM owes Ray Allen an apology- he still DOES have game.

Why? Because, Ray- "he used to have game"- Allen scored over 20 points and managed a field goal percentage above .500 exactly 3 times during 20 playoff games so far this year?! No way. He still has much to prove. Let's see how he fares in the NBA Championship where all is on the line.

You're not gonna give him any credits for making those big shots in Games 5 and 6 against the Pistons?
