It's the lead story right now, and is on the radio (NPR national hourly broadcasts). The NPR broadcast says the film vault may be threatened. I wonder if any films there are the sole remaining copy?

Direct link.

I thought Universal had built a climate controlled vault in an old salt mine after the incident in the early '80s that destroyed master prints and negatives of many important films, including Jaws.

It's good that the main vault was not affected that contains all the negatives.

According to a spokesman this morning, all films in the affected vault are copies and the originals are ok.

disney sets are made of steel and concrete, espically those outdoor sets.

wonder why universal doesnt do the same thing?

The Universal sets are very old. As an example the courthouse set that burned down was used in the Back To The Future series as well as To Kill A Mockingbird.

No the exec said anything lost; if anything is lost; is replaceable.

Also; Universal had a couple previous major fires before, one in this same area and they CHOSE to rebuild with traditional materials and means; something about it looking more authentic (and I bet cheaper).

maybe cheaper to modify????????

I went to universal once many years ago, after seeing the commercial on the universal owned superstation

The commercial showed the beaver house, when i got to universal i found it gone years earlier, a couple years later that commerciaL WAS STILL RUNNING..

UNIVERSAL customer service didnt care, so i called the bruce williams NATIONAL RADIO SHOW

bruce dismissed my complaint, but boy it got the right attention. i called universal customer complaint the next day and the rep asked did you call bruce williams? yep that was me.....

a studio boss heard my on air complaint and said if the fellow calls make him happy.

the commercial was pulled that day and i got a bunch of free admissions to universal florida.

i know its just a false front but wonder if the beaver house survived?

heck i even met the beaver once and got his autograph as a adult, growing up without a dad it was my favorite show
