I have read that some of the channels on DTV are MPEG 2 and some are MPEG 4. I have noticed that some of the HD channels are better than others. Is this the reason? How can I found out which channels are 2 and which are 4? And, If MPEG 4 is better, are they planning to convert all the HD channels to MPEG 4?
Thanks for helping a newbie. Just went to HD last month and I"m LOVING it!

Thanks for the replies. I HAVE noticed that ESPN is not as sharp as some of the other HD channels (channel 206). I hope they take them all to MPEG 4

When will D* start to swap out Mpeg2 for Mpeg4 boxes?

From what the CFO said this week on a conference call, it sounds like they're only going to do it when/where they need to. Example, they swapped out the folks that had the LA MPEG2 HD's, next the MLB-EI/SF HD and for the fall NFL-ST/SF HD folks now since the HD games are all going MPEG4 this year. They hope that many of the HD folks will want to do the swaps on their own to help reduce their costs.
