I have just got my locals in HD in Huntsville, Al. I get all of the major stations
except ABC. I have called Dish and they told me Huntsville was not linked
up with them. I called the Huntsville, ABC station and they said that they were.
I can get ABC in HD with a outside antenna, but not with Dish. Anyone else having this problem ?

Huntsville, AL is uplinked but not available. Dish needs retransmission consent in order to broadcast the channel. There must some type of issue between Dish and Huntsville ABC. From what you posted that each said, both seem to be not telling you the whole truth.

You are right. I am not getting the truth from either one. But at least I have FOX, CBS, and NBC now to watch in HD.

Alright! Look's like HD is finally getting turned on down here in the South. We'll probably get ours in about 15 year's over here :D but could you imagine SEC Football on Lincoln Financial in HD? ha ha

I have been trying to figure out why WAAY isn't available ever since they launched HSV and I still don't have an answer. If they carry the SD channel of it, then why would it be a problem to carry the HD? I don't understand at all.

When Dish added the 3 Huntsville stations, Dish's Internet site had listed ABC in HD as being available. I have tried a couple of times to access the site since then and the page times out for my zip code...I had 61.5 dish installed on Wed. of this week and the installer told me and I Qoute him...he said Dish would be added them soon, made me laugh and I should of told what soon meant here a Satguys.

We have the same problem in Salt Lake City. No ABC HD. Thankfully I have an OTA that picks up ABC HD withouth a problem. However, it stinks for people who rely on E*soley for their locals. SLC was in the first batch of cities to be rolled in years ago when HD LILs were first launched. Does anyone remember what year that was? It has been at least 2005. Anyway, at that time E* stated they were working out a contract with the local ABC affiliate. I guess we are left to the "sometime soon scenario".

Status of WAAY-DT in HD?

Has anyone heard any new information on adding WAAY-DT in HD to DISH?

I am guessing it is a contractual thing. The station was sold to Calkins Media 02/01/2007. Calkins is a small company...they own only 2 other tv stations and small newspapers.

There has also been a lot of turn over at the station in the last few months.

You would think they would want their HD signal available to as many people as possible for the advertising revenue.

It would be nice to know what city you are in.

Yep, you would think that. Many stations are dragging their feet on getting HD feed up, while others think they are worth a lot more money than Dish is willing to pay. You can spend a lot of time going between the station and Dish before you ever find out who is telling the truth as far as the reasons the station is not there.

There's always the Birmingham market with all 4.

I am just outside Huntsville, AL about 20 miles south of the Alabama - Tennessee border.

When I checked I thought I could get the Nashville HD and SD stations but not Birmingham HD stations. I think I can get Birmingham SD stations.

If I "move" I would prefer to get Nashville.

119 Transponder 9 is where the Birmingham HD stations are in your area. It covers a good sized area. Check your signal strength on an HD receiver. 110 TP 29 has the Birmingham SD's... I can even see that signal in my backyard in Louisiana along with the HD's. ;)

What about the Nashville HD and SD channels?
