Okay. I have a dish network satellite dish and receiver (subscribed). My brother in law gave me an extra direct tv receiver he doesn't use. He is a paid customer of Direct tv so the receiver is functional. I want to try out the box but don't know how to hook it up with the dish satellite or even if it is possible. The Dish sat is Dish 500 and the lnb says plus or pro on it. I really want to try this box out because the area I live in in NY does not receive any local channels unless I pay extra, and then they are not even NY channels. His receiver is from NYC metro area. Please help.

You'll need a separate dish and aim it at 101W for Directv. You could use Dish Network Legacy equipment but you need a dish aimed at 101W. Dish Pro or Dish Pro Plus won't work with Directv.

Thanks for the help guys. My husband purchased a legacy lnb on ebay recently (haven't received it yet). How do I put this on the dish itself?

you need to re-aim your DN dish and use legacy LNB's (ones that doesn't have Dish Pro or DP Plus on the front)

I would think that the OP wants to keep the dish aimed at the Dish Network satellites thus my recomendation for another dish.

All you need is a phillips screw driver to remove the screw holding the lnb in place.

why couldnt you just put a DirecTV or Dish Network Legacy LNB next to the 110 LNB to make sure it works?

Here is when I made a Ghetto Dish 1000...you would just put the single or dual LNB on the opposite side of where I have mine :)
