I bought one from Glorystar a year ago for about $45 + shipping. It worked great until a couple weeks ago, it didn't survive a thunder storm. Glorystar still had this lnbf for sale on their web site two weeks ago, but I procrastinated and today do not see it on their site any more.

Does anyone know of any other sources for a good inexpensive dual c-band lnbf?

The flea-bay arena has a bunch of "dual polarity" c-band lnbf's. What kind of bs are they trying to pull with that kind of description:rolleyes:
 
Someone else was asking the exact same question just the other day.
You suppose they reached their expected "end of life", and just died? - :D

I told him what Gab said above:
Give SatelliteAV a call, and have 'em look around for any remaining stock.
Brian will be back at work on Monday, though he'll probably be swamped 'till Tuesday due to taking a couple of days off.
I'm sorry now that I didn't get one while they were available...

Thought there were some sold under another name by a Canadian distributor, but it appeared they were all dual-polarity as you discovered. :(
 
maybe a operation could repair it?

on the two items i had hit.... it disconnected the coax connector from the board. a small bit of solder would reconnecr it. photos would help :)

I just installed the dual c band lnbf from satellite av yesterday and it is working great.It was very easy to change,only took about 10 minutes,it was worth 40.00 and 10.00 for shipping.
 
Most of those lnbfs are pretty cheap to buy. Check out ebay.
The astrotel precision lnbf's are awesome. I get some pretty hard to lock transponders with one that is rated 20 degrees.

Satellite AV, Glorystar, and a few others whose product selection appears to be exactly the same, are no longer carrying them.

I really don't want to shell out for a Chaparrel bullseye. A few Chinese distributors appear to have something similar to what I had.

If anyone has a source, please let me know.

The second you listed only allows you to inquire from a China supplier.

I must have received the last one 1 week ago from sat av,I hope they still sell them,Iwant another one.I just checked sat av and the dual I got is off the web site,that really sucks because I wanted 2 more,guess I will have to go with the single.Sorry about your luck,I will keep my eyes open for you.

Some time ago, I had a rant going about finding conical scalar rings for C-band.
In my research, I came across a lot of C-band LNBFs.
Here are a few samples:

C-band LNB 4-outputs

C-band LNB dual output @ $7.50

C-band LNB single output @ $3.50

And in digging out this info, I see why I was remembering GlarySat as an almost familiar sounding name.
I thought it was a Canadian brand, but now we see. ;)

edit: and if Brian at SatAV cannot help you out with product, here is an option that can work.
Sadoun sells the Eagle Aspen Bandstacked C-band LNB w/ Scalar here, and also without Scalar for less .
I have one here, but with no dish to try it on, cannot report further.

although its a single connection lnbf the bandstacked one ( that sadouns has) should work. and feed several receivers through a multiswitch ... you would just have to know how to handle the bandstacking.

just make sure your receivers can do bandstacked ... also several of the other members know about bandstacked and can tell you the ins and outs to it.

EDIT i noticed that anole mentioned this option lol lol well at least we are thinking along the same line :D

plus sadoun has it listed cheap ( without scaler)
 
The Glarysat looks good, but I don't think I have a use for 210 of them. I will inquire of options for a couple.

While the band stacked would be fun to play with, I can't see how I could incorporate it in my setup that includes a legacy c-band receiver and a couple of
 
I like the bandstacked idea, does the multiswitch seperate the high/low=H and V to different ports of the multiswitch.

Kind of like One coax from the bandstacked lnbf to a multiswitch then you could connect multiple receivers to normal ports that are 13v/18v switched.
 
I'm trying to decide whether to get the B1SAT STACK from Sadoun.. My LNB got some water in it this weekend, and I'm thinking its bit the dust.. I was asking in another thread about the Dual C-Band LNBF's, and i've only been able to find the ones mentioned in this thread.. so i kinda would be interested in how H/V would be seperated out into a multiswitch also... I would like to go for the cheapest solution possible for now.. Would like to get a Bullseye II some day though.. :D

Well, if they were cheap enough, you and your 20 closest buddies could have 10 each, probably for less than the price of ordering one from Australia! :)

But regarding the bandstacked, you're right, no good way to integrate it with an old C-band receiver.

Your question got me thinking.
You could hook the E/A to the H side (18v) of a 2x4 multiswitch, and then you tell the receiver you only want Horiz transponders and let it blind scan.
That would get all the channels, both Vert and Horiz
Iceberg and others have discussed the basic concept - just not this way with the switch.

Then, if you were to use a 4x4 multiswitch instead, the 22khz would select either that C-band LNB, or whatever you hooked to the other two inputs...
Would be a bastard system, and I'd hate to recommend it to the average user.
It certainly doesn't belong in the Switches Simplified thread - it's not simple! :D

But if you recall, Iceberg did something like this once, where he hooked the H input of a multiswitch to one LNB and the L input to another.
In his case, he had specific birds where that worked.
Still, his programming was... uhhh... imaginative, to say the least. :cool:
I'll let him sell you on the idea.

The other thing (not hardly cost effective!) that came to mind is something that Dish Network used to have to let Legacy receivers talk to bandstacked (DishPro) LNBs.
Think of it as as de-stacker. It was called a DishPro Legacy Adapter.
You might need two to feed a multiswitch properly, but the result would be something you actually could feed into a 4DTV receiver.
Problem is, I only think it would work, and unless you just had two of them laying around, they're kinda spendy.

As mentioned above, there's no cheap solution unless SatAV gets restocked.

The Eagle Aspen is a good solution if you're open to new ideas.
But if you're trying to retrofit an old system, it may be an up-hill battle.
There is no separate solution that's cheap. The receiver needs to deal with it.

A Corotor is not particularly cheap, and only gives one polarity at a time, so it's not an appropriate alternative for this discussion.
Getting one for free is certainly attractive (and possible).
But then you are required to have a receiver that can control the skew servo.
And I'm 100% sure I don't want to go back to the 80's for that. - :eek:

Lol.. Yeah, you caught me... I looked at it after I typed it and thought... Is that right? Yeah, definitely want a Bullseye II.. Would be nice to have everything I would need there.. I have been investigating getting a Charparral Dual Feed horn and 2 20deg Chaparral LNB's from Prime Focus.. (since I do have a KU dish that I can use for that)... that would be a little expensive, but it would be the same as what were trying to do.

I wish Sadoun or SatAV would stock the dual C-Band LNB's again. They come in handy for people who want to be able to connect up all of their satellites... and they're a cheap solution..

About the Eagle Aspen LNB: The bandstacked idea kinda concerned me.. but you can't beat 20 bucks for that LNB... as long as it works! I would probably only be using this for DVB, I'm just using an analog reciever to change polarity through the servo, and to move the dish... Im using a Coolsat 5000 and a Fortec Lifetime Ultra to do my DVB.. and I saw that they support OCS... so Im guessing i should be OK using these...

If that doesn't work, get the Eagle Aspen.
As you say, your receivers should support it just fine.
Maybe Sadoun will give you a deal with a Gbox, and then you can toss the analog hardware.
