I have had Dish Home Protection Plan (DHPP) for a while and was thinking of canceling. I am not planning on moving soon and I have a leased 622 and a leased 211. I was wondering if I did not have the plan what would happen if one of my leased receivers were to stop working or needed to be returned for any reasons. With the DHPP if anything happens a new or refurb unit is shipped out free of charge. Thanks for the help.

YES it is worth it but you need to know how to use DISH systems to your advantage. Don't pay for DHPP when you don't need it order it only when you have problems until they change their policy.
Consumer Reports says all prepaid warranties are a waste of money, especially on electronics. If anything is going to go wrong, it usually happens in the first 90 days. After that, it is rare for them to have problems. The Manufacturer is gambling on you not having a problem and you are gambling on having a problem. The odds are way in his favor.
If your contract has expired, there is no requirement to continue DHPP. If you can trouble shoot your own tech problems, there is no need to ask for a service call. If not, and you request a service call, a regional service provider or authorized retailer that you ask to perform the call, can charge $99. The most that E* will ask you to pay is $30 under DHPP.
When I had a switch problem about a year ago I called service and they said I needed some one to come out and check my system.
They said that I should order DHPP and it would cover me.
This is after they knew that I had a problem.
Now this was a year or so ago and Dish may have changed their way of doing things but it is something that you could check out.
This is actually flawed thinking with respect to anything with a hard drive in it, like a DVR. The older disks get the more likely they are to fail as there is wear and tear of the mechanism. Mean Time To Failure is also much lower in real world scenarios than hard disk manufacturers would have us believe. I am not saying that people should pay for DHPP, but they should treat DVRs differently from other receivers when considering it.

They moved mine for free back in January. They said it is usually 99 dollars to do it but since I was such a great customer they waived the fee. I guess that means I spend a lot of money every month.
