hi i am new and looking for locals channels from philly.

I looked everywhere and can't find how this is possible

Can someone direct me in the right direction

Cband iptv fta anything but no slingbox.

Please help thank you

Hey there!

I don't think locals from Philly are available unscrambled/In the Clear. You can use C Band to get almost all of the networks one way or another, provided you've got room for a 6-foot dish :)

How far from Philly are you?
Any chance you're within say 80 miles?
Direct reception of the OTA digital signals might be possible.

not with in 80 miles

I was hoping there is something I can do get the locals I want not the one I have to have.

If you were a paying subscriber to Dish Network , one trick is to "move" to Philly.
That would be discussed and documented in the Dish forum on this site.
However, I see that Philly is spotbeamed to that area, so the technique would not work if you are far enough away to be out of the spotbeam.
(about half way down on this list, ch 8150, etc.)

You used to be able to "move" to Los Angeles until recently, and get reception nationwide.
Now, LA is on a spotbeam, and a buddy who actually did move to a new home about 200 miles away is just able to get good reception.

Guess I'm out of ideas. :(

...looking for locals channels from philly. ...

I can offer you some internet feeds for news broadcasts:

FOX WTXF:
mms://a986.l2519320985.c25193.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/986/25193/v0001/reflector:20985

FOX WTXF weather radar feed:
mms://a1155.l2519323154.c25193.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1155/25193/v0001/reflector:23154

CBS3:
mms://cbstv-0012-live.wm.llnwd.net/cbstv_0012_live

The CBS one is generally only active during news broadcasts. The FOX feed is generally up all the time with a shot of the city when they are not in a news broadcast.

It's not a real solution, of course, unless all you want is the news, but it is at least something. Plus it's free and available immediately - nothing to install. ;)

So you only get the news or is there more.

Also if I might sound greety.

But I am also looking for Philly comcast sports channel

I called them and asked why they are not on satellite like the others and they said because of there old contract when they were prism does not allow them on Sat tv

"does not allow them on Sat tv"???? HA, that's a good one.

Search for "terrestrial loophole" and you'll find the whole story on how they withhold it from satellite.

Loophole funny how there is always a way to screw the customer.

I hate spending 80 dollars a month on getting most of the channels I don't won't

I only want about 15 to 20 channels and that is it.

Well when I talked to comcast they said the contract was up in 08 but looks like I am still SOL.

Thanks

by the way I bought 36' dish and motor will their be nfl football feeds.

Last yr when I checked for Eagles games there were on Cband.
so I bought a 36 dish this yr to play around but I have no idea what I am doing

cripes do a search. Theres a bunch of threads on it

Crapcast Philly is using the old PRISM infrastructure which is terrestrial/microwave. Therefore they dont have to make their signal available to DBS providers

Unlike most other cable networks, CSN Philadelphia is only distributed via microwave and fiber optics. The infrastructure Comcast uses for this was left over from the now defunct PRISM Network. Since its programming is not transmitted by satellite, Comcast is able to avoid an FCC regulation that requires most television channels to be offered to direct broadcast satellite companies. Thus, DBS customers in the Philadelphia region do not get access to the network or any of the local teams' games. However, cable companies other than Comcast within the designated CSN Philadelphia market do have access to the channel. In December 2006, Comcast even made a deal to place CSN Philadelphia on Verizon's competing FiOS systems.[2] All of the other members of Comcast SportsNet are available to DBS subscribers, with the exception of CSN Northwest (however this is only because DirecTV and Dish Network have not been able to reach a carriage agreement with Comcast).

cripes
That's funny

I remember prism I think it was channel 23 on cable box

I am sure the SAT companies love that meaning more sport package they can sell.

I was orignal looking for locals like cbs abc fox. Because someone told to try fta and this website was great but I have know idea were to start.

Ok if I don't get any feed back I will get the picture and stop asking questions.

How do I find what KU sat will have the Eagles preseason games on

like Aug 8 against steelers.

I found this on their website, it's from 2007. Looks like it was C Band Analog
"Satellite: Gal 26 (IA-6)/C11 93 W Transponder C11"

If the game is on FOX you might want to try G10R/G18 @ 123W. Last year I picked up several games I wouldn't normally get locally.

You should be able to see - Preseason Week 2 CAR @ PHI 8PM on FOX
NFL Schedule: Preseason

There may be other updates to the schedule as we get closer to kickoff. Here is another handy NFL map I use. Right now it won't really do anything. About three days before the game the "Single, Early/Late" fields will become hyperlinks. Click on these and it will bring up a map showing which games will be televised where.
NFL TV Distribution Maps

I hear there is more stuff on C-Band as far as feeds for the NFL. I recently bought a 6 footer and plan on blind scanning this season. I'll let you know how that goes.

I'm a NY Giants fan so I shouldn't even be telling you this stuff.;)

Thanks ALOT I would like if you can keep updated or show me how to do this.

As for C Band I don't know if I can put that thing in my back yard to close to neighbors.

Giants fan good luck this year I am still shocked they won the Super Bowl WOW.

There were many times last year that I could watch different NFL games by looking at different regions thru a couple of the FOX affiliates available through FTA.

I would flip channels between my Local FOX Affiliate OTA and the FOX channels FTA and had 3 markets , that was or could be up to 6 different games on any given Sunday which meant that I could watch a total of 12 NFL teams compete.

KUIL-LP on AMC 4 @ 101.0 west
KMMF-TV on Galaxy 18 @123.0 west
