Recently we had some bad storms in michigan with some real high winds. Well after the storm I have on TV that has a fine signal but my other TV is searching for sat signal. I have done all the system resets and such. I have had past issues with this reciever.

Could this be a box issue or does the the dish maybe need some adjusting, even though one TV has a fine picture? Its the newer HD dish, but its not a slimline...

This would be an issue proably with connection on satellite cable or something simple. Where you can remove the satellite cable for 30 sec and unplug the receiver for 30 secs and then reconnect satellite cable and power cord. If that fails then you will have to call tech support, I would advise since Directv has come money hungary and doesnt take the word of the customer, that the troubleshooting they maybe have you do more troubleshooting so its really a double edge sword, since you can try what i suggest, but then when you call technical support they will still have you try the steps, if you have the protection plan, the troubleshooting is a must or the pp does not cover the service call fee of $79.95.

I would double check all the connectors you can for damage and replace them with compression fittings (if you can).. Check the run of the cable that you can for damage.

-What are your signal strengths on the 101 and 119 and 103 for both receivers?
-What Receivers do you have?
-Can you temporarily replace the working one with the non-working one and see if it works (this will rule out cable/connectors?
-Do you have a Multi-Meter? Test Transponder 1 and see if the receiver is outputting 13v, Transponder 2 and check for 18v (may need to use a short cable for a jumper). (ground to teh connector., positive to the stinger).

I've been searching for Satellite on some but not all of my HD channels for 3 weeks now. I first lost signal during a storm. After a few days of resetting, unplugging and swapping wires I scheduled an appointment. On Thursday before my service appointment on Saturday, it started working. I cancelled my service and you guesed it, it stopped working again. Still waiting for my new service appointment on Saturday.

This is the second time since I upgraded to HD that I have had to call service. When they installed my new dish they did move it on top of the roof instead of on the side of the house. Is this making it more prone to wind?

If so, why did it start working last week for a day and a half and stop working on a bright, sunny, calm wind day?

What are your signal levels on the new satellite D11? This would be 99c. The old legacy MPEG2 HD channels (in the 70s) mirrored in the 200s, have been switched over to D11. If your dish is out of alignment this would explain the problem. Are you having problems with ESPN/206 & ESPN2/209 ?

I had the same problem as KayGee. I lost most HD channels on one of my receivers on bright, sunny days. After two service calls it was determined that the problem was with my dish. The tech said I had a first generation dish and replaced it with the latest one. Since then, everything has worked fine.

Problem solved. Dish had to be realligned. I'm so glad that I signed up for the service plan because it looks like the HD dish that they installed on top of the roof will get blown around each time the wind picks up. The SD dish that I had was on the side of the house and more protected from strong winds.

It shouldn't move at all, unless you happen to live in the Florida Keys. If it happens again make sure they use new mounts since the ones on there now for a 3rd tighten will be stretched with the summer heat.

It's weird for me. I seem to always get this on TNT HD & ESPN HD when there are games on.. It's really starting to tick me off
