NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

Which is what makes the SEC such a great conference, that it does have all those great teams that can beat each other up. I prefer that better than a conference that only has 1 or 2 good teams, that go undefeated soley because their conference has no competition.

A while back the Big Ten was a conference that beat up on the teams in thier conference and did not have the sparkling record because of it and was put down because of it, now the SEC is being lauded for beating up on their own teams.

Actually, I'd never put them down because of that. It's the reason I usually rank the Big 10 as #2, behind the SEC.
The Big 12, Pac 10, and Big East more fit the description of having a top dog and several little puppies. The ACC was that way with FSU, they tried to fix that by adding Miami, but then both teams fell flat.

What I would want more than anything in College Football is an Ohio State/Texas Tech bowl game. The back-and-forth verbal battles with myself and 'The Three Buckeye-teers' would be EPIC.

Your Buckeyes will NOT make a third straight BCS title game OR play an annoying SEC team. (I'm not saying Texas Tech will hoist the Sears Trophy, but they'll play in a big game)

Instead, I see them playing a Big 12 team- hopefully Texas Tech, but Missouri wouldn't be too bad.

Buckeyes/Red Raiders would be the only way I ever try another avatar bet.

Careful with those avatar bets Sabres. And I don't know what you consider to be a big bowl game, but if the Alamo Bowl counts then TT should have a BIG season. I just wouldn't hold my breath on seeing them play after New Years.

Maybe TT could play Kentucky in the Harmonica Bowl, but only if TT loses their starters to injuries or suspensions, making them start their 2nd and/or 3rd strings. :)

The preseason polls are speculation and pure BS. The AP actually has votes for Notre Damned and the perennial powerhouse NC. Wonder who voted for them and what drugs they were on while these votes were being cast. :D

Your funny. So Kentucky's win last year against LSU was a fluke. Did they let them win? I don't think so.

Can you explain the clunker they put out at Homecoming two weeks later vs. Mississippi St. or the loss to S. Carolina?

I have never said that they were going to contend for the BCS title, but they have their instances of good play.

Missouri would be fun ( remember Urban coached down the road at Bowling Green) Pinkel coached at Toledo, I would prefer that Missori and Ohio State play in the MNC game !

Yes, it was a FLUKE. Did LSU throw the game? I don't think so, but maybe one of the coal barrons made them a deal they simply could not refuse. Now you have me thinking on just how the WildKants win so many games.

Don't confuse him with facts, the WildKant fans are not interested in facts. If he says they could have easily won the national championship, they could have. Take his word for it. Forget that they went 3-5 in the SEC and 7-5 overall. They could have easily won the national championship. Why? Cause wildKant fans say so, that's why!

With all due respect to these polls, the Buckeyes IMO are the ONLY clear cut #1 right now. Any thing less is just plain comical. The only reason why they didn't get the #1 right off the bat is the fear of a public outcry because of the previous 2 years meltdown in the Championship.

Word of caution, THIS season's team should be MUCH better than last years. We didn't even expect a National Championship run last year, this year we do.

I never said they could win the National Championship in football, at least not seriously. I would love to see it, but it is very unlikely in the SEC. Plus I am a fan and am supposed to root for my team to win all the games. So get off my case.

The Kentucky football program has made strides in the past couple of years toward becoming a solid football program. Conferece is tough on them though.

Would fare better in another conferce, but that's not going to happen.

Still have improved quite a bit in recent years.

Kentucky can't have it both ways. They dominated the SEC to the tune of about 43 conference championships in basketball so they can't hardly complain when they get bent over by everyone else in football season.

What's funny about Kentucky is that at one time they had both Adolph Rupp and Bear Bryant coaching their teams. UK stuck with Rupp despite a point shaving scandal and receiving the death penalty from the NCAA. Bryant thought that was a tad f-ed up and left Kentucky and made his fortune elsewhere. UK hasn't been a factor in football since.

Are your kidding? The reason Ohio State isn't number 1 is because they play in the Big Ten.

They do have 20 starters returning. So maybe a little respect is due, not a lot, just a little.:D I guarantee we here in MICHIGAN are trying to respect them.

I'm just tired of the "How Ohio State is so powerful" talk, but they can't win the big game.

Sorry Jimbo, no offense intended.:)
