Eastern Arc Dish Info & Install Guide

FYI....I have been told by 3 different CSR that eastern arc is not available currently at my ADDRESS. I'm in the NW suburbs of Chicago (one of the first DMA's). So although they list them, not everyone will be covered in them.

Issues with the 77 feed

Guys, I put up a 1000.4 dish at my office. I put it up the other day to test it, and it was missing 77. I inquired into it, and the 77 was not alive yet. However, amidst report of the Eastern Arc being fully operational, i just ran a check switch, and it did not pick up the 77. I tried resighting it with my birddog, my max peak, and even an aspen eagle. Nada. Is anyone else had this problem or what?

The satellite which is supposed to provide the signals from 77 is still at 110 providing channels there. The replacemant for it is in the area of 110 now and may go online within a week or so. Then the EchoStar 8 at 110 can move to 77. There seems to be plenty of channels to make the service usable in the 22 markets which were announced.

You'll need the new card also. So detecting will not be the same as receiving.

That must be waiting on E11 to move over to 77w. According to the DISH flyer on Eastern Arc, 77w will carry SD locals and HD locals, and 61.5 will carry HD locals and HD core. So for the 21 initial markets for EA, where are the SD locals being carried if 77w is not live yet? On 72.7 with reduced PPVs for the moment?

I thought that Echostar 4 was up there right now at 77 with only one transponder lit up just to keep the sat space? I know that there is a sat listed at 77 on the echostar knowledge base listing under the sat channels part.

If I up grade to Dish HD this month or next will the 722 DVR I get come with the new

If I up grade to Dish HD this month or next will the 722 DVR I get come with the new smart card?

It is EchoStar 4 and it is pointed at Mexico. You might get a signal in Texas, but it is probably not identified correctly for EA.

Some of the EKB listings are just virtual as the transponders don't actually exist, yet.

Thinking way ahead of myself so bear with me... Locals will be on E8 at 77 after E11 settles into 110 and E8 makes the celestial journey to 77. I am curious what will happen if you live in a local market served by 77.

I am on the HD Abs pack at the moment and have a "circle a" 722. I have the traditional 61.5 and 110/119 setup. If my HDLiL's would light on 77 (6-7 months from now), would they put another dish up on the side of my house for 77... or can the 110/119 be realigned for 72.7/77?

Just received a 1000.4 bulletin For the time being ,there is NO signal from the 77* orbital slot.
I cannot post it here because it's in pdf.
Here's what to expect.
Peak the 1000.4 dish using the 72.7 orbital slot(port #2) Then verify 61.5(port number one)....Peaking on 72.7 will ensure signal from 77*.
Run a check switch after initial connection. Download receiver, then run chk switch again.

CSR may have misspoke. A DMA is a DMA. I ran into this a few years ago when this DMA first got locals.
The customer had forgotten to order locals. So I get a CSR on the phone and ask to add locals. Mind you I am smack dab in the middel of the city which is the DMA....She tries to convince me that the zip code did not quualify for locals. I told the CSR she was wrong and I demand to speak to her coach. I get the guy on the phone and he takes a look and VOILA! Locals for my customer. Done.

What's the best way of figuring where you need to have a clear line of site for EA sats?

In other words, is there a resource where you can enter your zip code and sat numbers and it'll tell you the compass coordinates and elevation? I see on my 722 that you can do that for 61.5 but I don't see it for the other sats.

With either the 1000.2 sat dish for western arc or the 1000.4 sat dish for eastern arc, you can plug a side sat dish into the lnb for 119 so you can keep the distants from All American Direct. Now I have received an email from them telling me that all distants will be in hd by years end. If that it is true I will definately want the 119side sat dish plugged into the eastern arc dish when it comes to my house.
