Charlie Chat tonight

I thought I heard Charlie claim TurboHD improves PQ. If "TurboHD" means "more efficient error correction", then it's plausible. Is this (improved PQ) true, or did Charlie confuse a vacuous marketing term with 1080p VOD?

I also heard them guess that the TR-50 would be available for $300 in November. I'll believe that when I see it.

Where is the Charlie Chat recap?

During the chat, while they showed the turbo video behind the hosts, they showed the Treasurehd and rushhd logos. I wonder if they are bringing voom back, and if not, there is no excuse for those channels to be in the video slate for turbo hd:mad:

I'll take "No Excuse" for 200, Alex.:D:D

I noticed that too. Could this be a sign...........or did someone forget to correct the video???????

...Family Room, Rush, Treasure and World Sport were the Voom channels that cycled...that's pretty dang funny...time to generate some calls into E* to thank them for apparently bringing back Voom soon...

I got word from Dish Network that the logos were included by Mistake and will be edited out of the replays

I knew it was mistake, but hella funny one :D I imagined that Charlie had a monitor in front of him and could see what we were seeing. I think I detected the signs of Charlie having a mini-stroke immediately following those logos displaying - LOL.

Too bad they don't have a logo for "HDALT," "ALT10," or "TEST." Then they could really show how they got to 114! ;)

There were actually a couple of encouraging things said last night, though. Charlie mentioned that they would send out programming in 1080p if it was provided to them that way (sometime in the future), and they did verify that FX and Speed were "in negotiations."

Also nice to hear the price and timeframe on the TR-50.

But at $300.00 for a tr 50 for just ota , how many will actually buy one now? For that price you could get the new 722K and get 2 ota tuners and 2 sat tuners and record 4 things at a time.

Probably not too many from this particular group, and there probably isn't what I would call a "huge" market out there. I think their market would be a lot larger if they would include clear-QAM tuner(s) in it.

I would probably use it to supplement my 622 on my old RPTV that doesn't have an ATSC tuner in it, IF I buy one. I'll have to wait and see what the "early adoptors/reviewers" have to say.

Yep, but you still need to subscribe to a Dish Network programming package, plus pay the DVR fee, etc. I may buy one to supplement our Sony 500GB HD DVR we use with FiOS because we record a lot of broadcast shows, and football season has started. The TR-50 will serve a small, but vocal, niche market. Personally, I would love to see E* make a TR50-like Cablecard model w/TVGOS so I can use it with FiOS TV and be a happy camper. The FiOS HD DVR is mediocre, at best, and the puny 160GB hard-drive and no external storage (yet!) leaves much to be desired. We tried the TiVO HD and, while is has some nice features, I wasn't a fan of the subscription fee and it was way too slow. We got rid of it after less than a month.

I sure hope E* can bring their award winning 622/722 design to the Cable marketplace. Currently, there is a serious lack of quality HD DVRs and most people just go with the crappy Motorola/Scientific-Atlantic box because it's often the less expensive and/or easiest option to select.

Exactly, plus if you watch the "turbo"loop on channel 75, you will see the mhd logo and the paladia logo. That is downright wrong. It is bad enough they show a golfhd logo seperate from versushd logo, as if it is 2 seperate channels, but the paladia seperate from mhd is dishonest in my book, as paladia and mhd were never seperate channels.
