There is hope!

I got up this morning and turned on my HR20 expecting the worst. But so far it seems to be working fine. Hopefully that is the end of this fiasco. I guess it turned out to have nothing to do with whether you were hooked up to a network, but I had disconnected mine from that just in case. As a result it is responding faster than it had since I hooked it up. Maybe yesterday's fix corrected some long standing problems as well as the immediate crisis, but until there is something worth watching from on demand I'll stay disconnected.

Mine locked up again this morning. Getting sick of this problem. Lost a number of recordings yesterday and I'm guessing today is a crap shoot. Wish D* would send out some sort of communication outlining the issue; if they have I never received anything. The first I heard of it was when I called in and got the recording. The CSR I eventually spoke with last night was a little nasty with me; said we know of the problem and that was it. Not very apologetic.

I wish D would be more clear on what they did. if it was something good they were trying to do i would be more understanding but their explanation is still not clear enough. even though i'm fine i hate the fact that some are still experiencing problems today!

Interestingly when I looked last night my DVR had a national release on it. I had a CE on it before this. My theory is they sent out a national release that went wrong. That would explain my loss of recordings. the CE notes clearly said if you revert back to a national release you'd lose recordings.

I think it's irresponsbile to D* to overwrite a CE with a national release. if there's a CE on the box the user chose it and went through the hoops to get it.

it should never be overwritten.

I had to reboot both my HR20 and HR21, but they still have the 0x286 CE release. My HR21 reset itself again about 4:30 PDT, messing up a recording.

My boxes have been sporadically experiencing these weird anomalies for almost two weeks. It is getting really annoying.

My HR20-100 has been recording shows that are unplayable. I go to the list, select my show, and get a blank screen. Annoying is a kind word for what we feel in my household.

I'm guessing it wasn't a failed national release rollout. D* normally staggers their national releases to avoid system wide fiascoes like yesterday. Since this affected virtually 100% of their HD DVRs customers at once I don't think it was a national release.

i agree this is definitely not a national release. too many people from coast to coast going through the same thing when national releases are always staggered.

Well, I think I spoke too soon.

Yesterday when I went home from work, I discovered that I had the same issues that have been reported. I had to reboot the box and all was well.

This morning, the box must have turned itself on overnight.
