I've read that next week the XM & Sirius music channels will merge into similar programming. I know that The Pulse (9 on Sirius) has been promoting that they are moving locations to 12 (I think) next Friday.

Any insight???

All of the decades channels will be the same on both XM and Sirius.

A number of channels will go away and a number of channels will be shared between services.

Sirius/XM will make the changes on the 12th but however will not announce the full lineup changes until they are made. (I think thats very lame)

Interestingly, listening to Sirius's 70's on 7 today 2 things struck me:
1) Jay Thomas id'd the station as Sirius/XM 70's on 7
2) the "70's Satellite Survey" said it was the last one. (Update: Next week it'll be Casey Kasem AT40, so I guess that means the 70's station MIGHT be the XM version).

Hrm.

I wonder what that implies and/or means.

no The XM program Director for the 70's channel got the boot

Eddie Trunk on Boneyard says Eddie Trunk Live comes back in mid-January, and the Boneyard will be available to both XM and Sirius subscribers.

3 years ago I left Sirius and went to XM for a reason. Terrible personalities on the decades stations, limited play lists and sports offerings on XM. Come on, can Nina Blackwell go have another smoke before she goes on the air. Her voice is like nails on a chalk board. Now, its starting to sound like I'm going to get stuck with the terrible jocks from the decades stations once again. My only hope in all of this is that they retain the broader play lists that XM has. I'm a bit ticked that they saw fit to run an ad in USA Today to announce some of this but they haven't bothered to clue in those of us who are most important, their paying customers. I guess we all just wake up Wednesday and figure it out.

so the sirius channels on the dish network 6000s channels will also be a merged of the both services???? i'm sorry but i just dont understand if we will loose the sirius channels.. or have the both services

I got in my truck this morning and found Buzzsaw 19, my favorite channel, is gone! What the hell? I don't mind AC/DC radio but it should be on channel 29. Also, Hard Attack 27, is now Liquid Metal? If I didn't have a lifetime subscription I would had tossed my Sirius receiver out the window and plugged in my i-phone....

Yeah, they dropped buzzsaw completely and HArd Attack, the most recognizable name in the metal community for radio, has been changed to that crappy Liquid Metal from XM that plays nothing but cookie monster death metal and obscure bands you never heard of. THey've dropped so much from both services that they will lose a ton of sunscribers. This is the death of satellite radio.

so...on the new "merged" channels, for example, the decades channels where the Sirius channel took over...are they merging the music catalogs of both versions, or just using what Sirius already played?

Sirius 60 sounded more XM16 like today while I was at work.

This is, as far as I'm concerned, a good thing. I missed some of the XM16 specials.

i like highway 16 on XM....
i have the XM in my car and the HIGHWAY is the one that i listen to on a daily basis.. especially that there are no real good country music channel on the FM stations here in bluefield...
