Well, to HDRoberts comment, they did not activate 61.5 for the 8 new HDPPV so maybe some combo of 61.5/110 for new national HD.

Just 1 HD channel added for our local DMA. That figures.


And the one channel they actually do add in HD is a CBS station I rarely ever watch. If the FOX or NBC affiliate had been lit up in HD I might have been more inclined to put in an order to add a wing dish. It's tough to justify with it just being the CBS station.

I can pick up KSWO in Lawton just fine OTA in HD. Still, I don't know why E* didn't just load the HD version to 61.5° anyway. KSWO doesn't broadcast a real 4:3 formatted SD channel anymore. They just lop off the sides of the 16:9 HD channel, downsample it to SD and broadcast that instead. The "7" logo falling off the screen during ABC HD programming is a giveaway.

Have any of the other local channels markets that recently had only 1 or 2 HD channels added seen any more of their local HD channels added? If 1 channel is all we're going to get I may look at just investing in an amplified outdoor antenna instead.

We only have 1 channel in the Greenville NC dma. According to the other channels, "negotiations are making progress" I bet that some of your missing stations are owned by the same company. Go to bontenmedia.com and see if any of them are listed. You can express your displeasure by email to the ceo. Also, Greymedia may be involved.

Well, there goes 8 "new" national HD. That leaves "up to" 28 remaining to get to 150.

only if you get your HD off of 129. these dont look like they are mirrored to 61.5

Everyone including congress was asking for ala carte programming. Charlie adds more ala carte programming (ie. PPV) Now everyone is pissed I don't understand

I can only find 2 additional test channels on 61.5 in The List (aside from the apparent Golf and Versus test feeds). I thought there was HD PPV there, but is seems to have been yanked. I'm not hopeful.

Too bad I don't have 77 here in Cincinnati, otherwise i'd have 2 HD locals. I pray it's not too long before they mirror them to 110 or 129.

Those locals will NOT be mirrored elsewhere. The Cincy market is part of Eastern Arc. Eventually all Cincy market customers will be "converted" and until then, you won't get your locals in HD (via Dish).

It would seem doubtful there would be any disputes between E* and those stations since they are carried in MPEG-2 SD on one satellite (119° I think) and now MPEG-4 SD on 61.5°.

I don't know for sure, but it sure seems like the problem is lack of bandwidth on the part of E*.

Isn't E* planning to launch a new satellite to 129° early in 2009? Will that one have capability of handling a lot of HD local spot beams? It sure seems like the bird at 61.5° is maxed out.

We now have Al Carte that cost us $30..00 a month to get; plus $15.00 each time we view a program

My locals are also in sd on the 110 satelllite and MPEG-4 sd on 61.5. These tv companies just want more money for the hd carriage.
