HR2x / R22 CE Release 3/26 - 3/28 (Special Thursday Night) 0x02ED

My router is an Apple Time Machine. It would not surprise me to see if this was the reason for the issue. I know for my Slingboxes I needed to manually open up ports on it so I could watch from outside the house.

Is there a listing of ports that we should open somewhere?

When you go to the network services settings there's two different functions that need ports and a drop down of what ports numbers the boxes will let you use.

rad is right on the money with this scott. i had the same problem and rad was able to help a few months back :)

i think ill wait and for go this week

:D Me too!:up

Put me down as another skipper. Last weeks is really working well here.
You guys understand the purpose of CE? It's to help move releases from a testing arena to the point where it can be released nationally. If you don't download, you're not helping to provide feedback and you're leaving the heavy lifting to others. Is that how you want to be known as a CE tester?

I understand what you're saying, and I would hate to create that trend because it would ruin the program, but I think if a number of people report problems with the release that affect the performance of their boxes then others need to be cautious about downloading it.

If the first 2-3 people that downloaded it report that it bricked their receiver, would you still download it?

Just sayin'....

Bricking a receiver, yep I'd take a pass, but performance you should download since some folks see problems and others don't. The bigger population reporting one way or the other helps DirecTV identify where/what the problem(s) might be. If it's that big of a PITA you can always go back to the national release.

yeah i thrown stones instead of bricks at mine :D. but even though i've read some negative posts on this download today, i'm still participating tonight. it's the only way to move this process along. i know no one is obligated to do so but I feel it's important. ;)

I normally do download them all and put up with steps backwards quite often but there are just some times when it feels pointless.

For example this time around I have not seen a single positive post about the new CE. The CE from 3 weeks ago was good and made my system very responsive, then 2 weeks ago it behaved like a feral dog with laggy menu's and slow behavior then last weeks was once more a good well performing CE. Now they come out with a CE this week that might be a NR and I see nothing but complaints.

It wouldn't be so bad if there was a way to restore a previous CE so that we dl & test a CE and if its bad we could roll back to the previous CE after testing but at this time there isn't. This means if its a bad CE your stuck with it and just have to hope it will be fixed next round in a week..

Did you read http://www.satelliteguys.us/1758189-post19.html since I said this CE did improve the performance on my HR2X's, thought that was positive.

Ah, it got buried under all the negs LOL, my bad. I'll probably still DL it tonight, I usually do, but if it futz's up my HR20 I'm sending "Guido" over to visit you muhahaha:D

I am still having that problem of entering a number and not getting a complete entry.

Sorry it didn't help you. What would help is if you could note if you're running in IR or RF mode and generate a diagnostic report if your receiver is network connected.

Yes i do understand the purpose of the CE. I am still testing just a week behind!:up

AFAKI, Network Services are used for the Widgets application and the STB and your router need to play nice with UPnP services. My Netgear router didn't so I set up static IP addresses, manual Net Services ports and then set up port forwarding in the router to the correct HR2X and all is now working.

This is correct, but the test that the system test uses fails commonly, with many routers. Despite the failed test, many users have Widgets/MRV/DirecTV2PC working, which is what I remember using those ports.

Guy's, all of you that d/l last nights CE and are saying to NOT d/l tonight, WHY ???

There is a very good possibility that D* has seen the responses from here and over there and changed the CE some so that tonight's might address some issues from last night.
That would not be unprecedented as they have ran a Saturday CE and addressed issues by Monday night on other CE issues before. It's been awhile since something like that has happened, but it DOES happen.

Jimbo

Boy, see what I get for not checking the CE forum during the week, I didn't even know about the thurs. release! Anyway, trying it tonight but won't get much of a chance to test as I am tired! I'll check it tomorrow.
