ALL VIACOMS HD ARE ON !!!

I find it puzzling that they keep adding channels to the Absolute package. The only reason that I can think of as to why is that Dish is losing customers so they want to try to keep as many as they can with carrots here and there.

I was DDA TurboHD Gold until the Fox News HD fiasco, I then switched to DDA Classic Bronze and BronzeHD more out of principle. Technically I am paying less. That was my, albeit small, way of "sticking it" to Dish. At the time of the switch I was getting less HD; however, after all is said and done, if Dish continues the practice of adding more HD to BronzeHD versus TurboHD I am getting a better deal with BronzeHD and will eventually end up with more HD on the BronzeHD package than the TurboHD Gold folks will get and I will be paying less! Dish is not making any sense to me.

Understatement of the year!

One reason why Dish is probably having trouble keeping and attracting subs is because of the fact that there are way too many confusing packages and few can decipher.

Even the long term subs on this forum (people who probably know more about Dish than the average sub) are confused by these packages.

I don't know why we got all excited about Viacom channels, I just looked at them and not one of them was broadcasting in HD. I know this isn't Dish's problem.

+1 to OregonScott. All this complaining for SD upconverts and otherwise horrible programming.

Really - Manswers on Spike HD? Yeah, it was HD, but it was clearly a show written for and by morons. Who watches this crap?

Oops, I guess I did. But only for about 2 minutes. :)

just a quick scan last night showed HD on Spike (TNA Wrestling) and Comedy Central (Southpark and Kron Mandoon). this morning Nick had HD (The Penguins of Madagascar). now, if the point is there was nothing in HD you wanted to watch...that's your problem

I see they are now adding BET HD on 9510. It's still in red on my schedule, which means it isn't accessable yet, but is on the way. I have no idea what BET HD does in HD. I've seen no HD at all on BET Jazz.

I know see Nick - 9416, MTV - 9484, VH1 - 9507, BET - 9510, but they are ALL in red. I'm an HD Absolute customer, are we getting these channels or I we getting screwed the way we did with Fox Business? I couldn't care less about Fox Business, but the new HD channels is all I need to have my programming complete.

All six (I only count six) new HD channels are showing up in red on my work account, which is the commercial equivalent of Classic Gold plus HD Gold plus Platinum HD.

It seems like this rollout may just be a huge CF. I think there may not be any rhyme or reason, or they just haven't put a plan in place yet. It may even be some weird contractual thing with Viacom, or a way assure maximum revenue by coaxing people to switch from TurboHD to Classic plus HD packages.

All I know is my company pays beaucoup bucks for our programming, and I fully expect any new HD additions, as we already have the highest level commercial HD packages.

BTW FNC is in HD on some packages? The only Fox HD we get in our packages is FBN in HD! I'm no FNC fan. But, some employees are. And, we should be getting FNC on general principle alone.

I might just have to pull the plug on these idiots, and go with D*. We already use D* in one of our buildings. The wiring is basically the same for both. Just gotta swap out the HW.

EDIT: Looking at the Dish Commercial website, I see they already added the new channels to the package descriptions. MaxHD, the commercial equivalent of Platinum HD, shows five of the new HD channels: BET-HD, Nick-HD, Comedy-HD, Spike-HD, and VH1-HD. TurboHD Private Plus, equivalent to Classic Gold, shows MTV-HD and CMT-HD. However, on at least one of my HD receivers, they are all red, and all in the 9000's. I will have to walk around and check my other HD receivers. Luckily, most of our boxes are still SD. So, it shouldn't take long.

You aren't getting screwed, Absolute subs were told they weren't getting anything new after the first of the year (1/1/09). Absolute subs should be happy as larks that they are actually getting some new channels!

TurboHD subs = DISH's whipping boy

Not really, we were promised 150 channels by year end. I still only count 51. I got 99 more owed me.

At this rate, there is a good chance that could happen; Turbo Gold had 16 more unique HD channels than Bronze; Dish added 3 to Turbo Gold, bringing it up to 19; now, they have add 4 Viacoms and 1 Fox news to the classic bronze, bringing the net difference down to 14 channels... Not a good sign at all...

Those with the absolute HD package are getting a great deal.

But I do agree that the TurboHD customers (especially the gold) are getting screwed over on this.

I understood that Platinum would get me all new HD channels

Platinum has nothing to do with anything. It's 8 channels for $10. That's it. Doesn't matter what other package you have, you'll always get the same 8 channels (Except when they dump them or switch them around.)
