prepaid

Hello im new to this site and i have a question.. i called to activate my new receiver and it put me to a CSR and i had a GDMC and i wanted service for 3 days and she told me i cant do that i have to use the hole 40.00 amount.... is that right? I cant go by the day?

No that is completely wrong. You can buy 1 day if you want.
This is why I tell people to never give your moneypak PIN to a CSR.

ok so can u tell me how..cause when i went on the phone it sent me to CSR.. i was told it would be touch tone all the way??????

Also new to the site and to prepaid.
No problem activating and using the DN cards. One came with the system,
the other I bought at Radio Shack. Went through all automated.
This time with GDMC it started automated and then switched me to a CRS.
She started in Spanish, I said I spoke English and she switched over to good
English - sounded US. I asked if she was tech support, she said No - did I want
tech support? I said no, but that I was prepaid and should have been in the
automated system. She seemed informed and said that it was necessary to
set up a "shell" account". I gave name and address, she had phone number.
Stated that a "shell account" had been created and that would only need to
be done once, asked if I had questions and offered to return me to the automated
system. I gave No payment info whatsoever. The system dropped me so I dialed
back in. Went automated all the way just like clockwork.
I bought 5 days so I'll report back when I reload.

Note: First post. I started to ask a question first but then just started
reading the thread. I'm up to page 12 now and will finish, but I wanted to share
my experience.

I"ll see for the next reload.

So my prepaid is working on the new smart card finally. I called in frequently, but kept getting the "call back later" type response.

Yesterday morning I called (I was calling at night in the past) and the CSR said my smartcard "had been activated in the wrong system" and proceeded to correct it. The CSR came back and kept giving me status that she was still working on it, etc. Then she asked for my GDMP pin which I said I would handle myself later. Well she told me "the system won't let me activate it without a PIN" and my GDMP had only $5 that I was about to lose to fees anyway. So I had her put HBO on. She said it worked and basically had 10 days of HBO and to wait 15 minutes. Well nothing was happening, still the "smartcard is not authorized" after 5-10 minutes but I had to get to work.

Tried again last night and the automated system said my card was already activated and offered me the "programming issues" options which I took. Talked to another CSR who came back pretty quick and said it will take about 15 minutes to get programming. Didn't happen. :(

So tried again this morning and the CSR said, "I can fix that. I'll send the signal now, it will take about 15 *seconds*" and about 10 seconds later I got the congratulations your smartcard has been upgraded message. He said it would take about 15 minutes to get the programming. At about 5 minutes I held in the power button and when it was back up it had the normal Dish Now! channels and my HBO.

Yay! Only took about 1.5 weeks. Fortunately I have Welcome Pack programming and OTA HD anyway, so I didn't hassle the CSRes or ask for a manager etc. I was more curious about how long it would take to get done if a customer just kept accepting their "call back tomorrow" or "it will be working in 15 minutes" statements. The answer is apparently it takes about 1.5 weeks. ;) And this 1.5 weeks is *after* I have the smart card in my hands and try to activate it!

Since I used up the GDMP I need to go get another before trying to add anything myself, but at least my receiver is up and working on the new card.

Anyway, I'm happy to have my prepaid system updated, even if it did take longer than it should.

CONGRATS!!!

It took only 3 days for me to get the G3 MESS straightened out, so I guess I was lucky.

Ordered programming this afternoon(AT250, HBO, Showtime, Cinemax) for two days, no problems at all.

If only they could get this crap correct for everyone.

Thanks! I didn't really try too hard, but it did take numerous calls to the IVR and I think 5 CSR conversations. ;)

A friend from worked called in today and activated through the IVR. It didn't actually hit the receiver so he had to talk to a CSR who got him setup right away. He was able to add programming later tonight.

I'm guessing they have finally worked the bugs out of their system and cleaned up some of the stuck shell accounts so they can activate.

finally had a good experience with dish network. Activating my new smart card was effortless and unpainful. Tried to activate it through the automated system first. Went smooth but didn't activate. I waited 10 minutes then called back to the automated system and hit 0 csr answered right away. told her that I didn't think that the activation was sent by the automated system so she sent it again and it worked perfect and only took 2 minutes.

well i guess prepaid activating is going smoothly now..still flaky but at least boxes are starting to work and addin remaining days off the old card on teh spot.which is good

Great..Easy

Ok I have been reading this message and board for about a week and have learned so much I had to join and share. I have a RV and that is the only system I have. The last 4 years I have subscribed to Dish and just used it mainly on the weekends during the summer, about 6 months. The other six months I suspended the account and paid $5.00 a month. Then I stumbled on this DishNow. Ordered my box from DishDepot, recommended on this board, for $49.00 and free shipping. Looks brand new. Got the GDMP for $20 + $4.94 at Wally World. Hooked it to my dish and had a great signal on 119 and 110. Message said I needed to activate my receiver. By the way the receiver came with the purple card. Call the DishNow number about noon CST today and entered all the info up to the receiver numbered and then was transfered to the spanish speaking CSR. I said hello and then she spok in english. She was very nice and spoke very good english (Sounde rather hot). Told her I needed to activate my prepaid and she said I need to go through the automated system. I told her I did and it switched me to her. She said no problem. She asked what color card I had and I told her purple. She said great and she woulld set me up with an account. She asked for name, address, email, and phone. She said could I give her a different number because it pulled up my previous account which I closed last week. I gave her another number and she still had the same problem. She please hold a moment while she accessed my old account and made a small change. She cam back and said it was fixed and need the receiver number and smart card number. Then she asked for my pin and wanted to know how many days I wanted. I was worried about giving my pin but did it anyway. Told her I wanted one day of gold. She said it was done. I said thanks. As I was hanging up the phone a message came on the screen stating it was being activated. About a minute latter the program guide was downloading, another minute I had my programing. As previously indicated in other post I got the message at the bottom of the screen when I changed channels that I had 2 days left on my card. I wll see how things go next weekend. The whole process took about 15 minutes. Very smooth.

This is a really great site and I wish I had heard of DishNow much sooner than now.

Thanks everyone!

Green Dot Money Pack

Can the green dot money pack be reloaded free when you are done with it, or do you have to buy a new one and pay the fee.

Hey dish network, how about letting us use your card the same way we use the green dot, so we can save $5

Hey dish network, how about letting us order through the remote control right over the tv, that would be the best thing to do.

I checked and it is down

Is it just me or the dish now system is down..and you cant call?

After reading your message, I dialed the Dish Now! # and I get 'we know your time is valuable....but the system is down'.

Been down since I checked on saturday night, my days expired last night and I called to add more, but I guess dish does not want to collect funds.

I will just plan on always keeping something running at all times and order 1 month in advance, and then order anything else I want at the time i want it, then if it's down for a day or two, I always have something to watch.
