DTVPal DVR Software Update

Got my update, not sure what it did.

Mine updated. Deleted all of my timers. Not sure what it did. So far, I see no changes. My guide won't populate all the way through. I wish the TV Guide function didn't disable the DVR. I was hoping that would be a fix but I guess it wasn't.

I can't find any word on the manufacturer's website about what this firmware update fixed. Anyone find anything??

With the new software I now have the TVGOS guide which I never had before. :up

Update to 206 Received

My DTVPal DVR, a second batch unit that had minor lockup and reboot problems, was updated to 206 from 202 when I got home from work today from a powered off state this morning. I had checked for the update this morning after seeing Scott's message and the Broadband update said I already had the latest firmware.

As someone else said, all my timers were gone, and the unit had done a factory reset, so I had to go through the standard initialization and wait for the TVGOS to kick in again for the guide to populate to a full 7 days.

The good news is that there have been no reboots or lockups in the, admittedly, short time I've used it under 206. ;)

I'm confused by this statement. The TVGuide function in no way disables the DVR. This is a common and very confusing misunderstanding. If you want to use an external TVGuide+ device then that's one thing, but enabling the TVGuide for EPG is something completely different. If I could figure out why this is confusing I could write an explination sheet to be added to the manual.

Okay every time I try to set up under the Tv guide function, the message come up that my dvr functions will be disabled. When I do set it up the dvr functions ARE disabled. So I don't even try to do it anymore.

Ah!
That is the TVGuide+ function Note the plus sign. That is a VERY different thing from the TVGuide EPG. The true name for the TVGuide EPG is TVGOS. Maybe if we were to use that instead of TVGuide it might help the confusion.

I want a good update!

So far, no resets, but I didn't have all that many to begin with.

Has anyone noticed any functional changes in the upgrade?

Looks to me like the programming interface has been cleaned up significantly. Recording the buffer still doesn't work like on the "grown-up" DVRs but at least now when you try to do it a message comes up saying that feature is only available in live mode.

Skip forward and back seem to have a more solid feel to them under F206 -- subjective, I know, but I think this is where one or more of my previous reboots was triggered so possibly important.

So far I'm liking it...

Timer and EPG.

Just moved mine to the RV where it's OTA only, limited channel selection. NICE having it record a few things during the week while I'm not there. Too bad the local station PSIP data only goes out about a day.

I did a search and can not find it. What could I enter to find the screenshot? Tried DTVpal/TR-40 and not luck.
Even if you enable OTA updates, it does not follow that Dish will pay anyone to carry the firmware update data stream...
