Jake Peavy to White Sox done deal..waiting for Peavy OK!

Just heard on MLB Home Plate on XM that Peavy declined to wave his ntc. Therefor he will remain a Pad (at least for a while) and will NOT be going to the ChiSox.

I'm surprised.

He has a better chance of making the playoffs with the White Sox. San Diego does not look like a team capable of challenging for a postseason spot.

You miss the point completely! The Padres do not even figure into this. Peavy will NOT be in a Padres uniform in August. His best bet now is to wait and see who "contenders" are near the trade deadline and choose from one of those. He will have many a suitor come deadline day.

I am glad he vetoed this trade. Way too much money and too long of a contract for a pitcher pitching in a home run park that is U.S. Cellular. There is a reason he wants to stay in the NL and it's not because he get's to hit.

I agree! :up

I'm not surprised at all ....
He wants to go to a team that has a real good chance at the post season, I even heard the Angels would be a possibility.
He really prefers to stay in the NL, he likes to hit and he would not have to learn all new players ...

Depends upon who we'd have to give up. Starting pitching is not the Angels' problem so far. <crosses fingers>

One can never have too much starting pitching, KCK. The rotation is going to get interesting when Bonderman returns to Detroit. We have two starters pitching middle relief already. (Robertson and Miner). I'd still add Peavy here in a Detroit minute.

It more about his family liking California. Which you could never hold against a family man.

He built a big, beautiful new home between Diego and L.A. but we'll just see how much this family man loves SoCal when the offer to pitch in the playoffs comes his way in July. Especially if there's a nice contract extension thrown in the pot.

Knowing that Mr. Williams in Chicago is not afraid make moves and make deals...I am sure that an extention was there. But let be honest here, there is STILL plenty of time before you separate the contenders and the pretenders. He would be smarter to wait till July. I would not be surprised if the Dodgers come a callin' then.
