4dtv main selling point are master feeds that are supposed to be a very clean picture. however there is still some mosquito noise in the picture.

I suggested buing rca to vga upscaler, but people told me that it would just blow up the noise i already have.

So, what is the cheapest way to clean up the picture?

yes if you turn down the sharpness, then the picture isnt as sharp

what kind of circuit can a guy make to reduce noise?

What kind of noise do you want to reduce? If it's digital artifacts your trying to rid yourself of it's quite involved. I built a circuit that I use on the S video out of my 4DTV, took me over 2 years to develop the finished product seen in the picture.

Don't ask me for a schematic because it's a protected design. I'd like to mass produce them some day. You know of any financial backers :D

If you want to experiment I will tell you this. Scope the video output and build a circuit that removes the portions of the video signal most prone to digital noise. Then if you want to get crazy like I did replace that noise with good signal.

and some of the channels look like mush anyways (G3 stuff)

You can only do so much with a overly compressed channel (like the G3 stuff) to clean it up. While it's better it isn't 100%. No replacement for true bandwidth :D

The thing is I'm used to watching my 4D through my processor and if I turn it off on the G3 stuff you really see how much even some cleaning up helps. NPS should be ashamed of the picture there putting out.

NPS uses Crawford Communications Crawford Communications - Home to re uplink the channels on G3.

Now about the masters. Some are DC 2 megapipe (which the 4DTV will not do) and some are SA PowerVu. There is good reason to re uplink those. The 4DTV compatible masters quite a few they won't sell us (some they used to). There are many explanations why? I believe it all revolves around a dollar. Everyone is so greedy that it gets to a point that if it isn't profitable to turn a tall dollar they don't do it. This is also why we never saw anything past the 922 when Motorola took over from GI. IMO I think the programmers will sell us the masters but NPS screws up the deal with there demands on what they want to pay for it. Heck a small cable company with less subscribers then NPS can get them then why can't NPS?

Welcome to the world of big business :(

if companys can clone fta receiver's why cant they clone a dg-II chip and build a new receiver, add componet to it, which would make the masters look like hd on the pizza dish, a Digital Video Recorder, a Pc Channel map and Guide Editor, Pc Based Dish Mover, a PIP guide. A faster processor.

Motorola owns the rights to Dc-2 and won't let it happen. Big business again :( Our only chance is a modified Starchoice receiver for C band. So far it don't look very good. :(
