Well, I called D* because I noticed that sunday ticket was up for renewal on my account, and I wanted to take the Sports Pack off for the summer and replace with Starz.

Went round with the very nice lady, and ended up with starz and a discount for $5.00 a month for three months. Free Showtime for 6 months, and Sunday Ticket for $24 for six months with free superfan.

There was a dropping price list of specials for sunday ticket and superfan, so if anyone wants to negotiate, do not take the first offer.
All in all, another pleasant experience with D* customer service.

You got Sunday Ticket and superfan for under $150 I find that hard to believe, but if you did more power to you and good job.

That is exactly what I did. Hard to believe? Maybe, but true. With todays market, they are probably wary about losing any subs of any service. That is not however why I called. I did call to cancel, however, that is a great deal. Throw in the starz discount and the showtime free for 6 months, and I could not turn it down.

I think those that have seen me post for the past few years know I posted this for information purposes, not to brag about something that was not true.

Its true. We cut ST+SF this year because of the whole Brett Farve/Vikings thing. The guy offered it all for $150. We still said no.

I think that directv figured out what many companies seem to have trouble with: that some money from a customer is better than no money.

Thats the deal I got. It was a multiple step process though. I'd previously canceled the auto renewal of NFLST. Happened to be looking at my account online at directv.com and saw "NFL Sunday Ticket...$0" in my programming list. I called them up to make sure that they didnt screw up the cancellation. The CSR asked why I canceled and I said it was too expensive.

He immediately offered the $20 off for six months. I said that was a good deal, but I wasnt happy about the games in SD, since the SD quality was horrible. He said he'd give me the SF for free too. Turns out the cancellation was done, but some quirk in the system was showing it on the web site. So he uncancelled it, then gave me the deal, but the next day I saw a charge for the superfan. I called a second time and the CSR said he saw in the notes that the guy did offer me both the $20/6 months and the free SF, asked his supervisor about it, and credited me for the superfan.

The first CSR did ask me a lot of questions about how long I'd been a directv subscriber and if I'd had the sunday ticket package for a while, seemed like he was hinging the decision on how long I'd been a subscriber to both.

I believe him....Ive seen many posts at dbstalk getting ST with SF free & $20 off a month for 6 months.

Yeah, I just read that thread.

Seems to be a good time to negotiate, although that is really not what I called to do.

I guess just call and ask.

Mine just Auto billed for $44.99. I didnt get the month prior warning. I only joined Directv last Nov. 1. Looks like I might need to call. Not sure how long it is $44.99 for doesn't say 4,5 or 6 months. to date I have orders full season of CI and MLBEI. Plus kept my Priemer package. Hopefully they will lower mine. If it is $44.99 for 4 Months with SF I wont complain. My guess is it is 6 Months.

Follow UP...

THANKS MSSMITH198025... I just called on my pricing and they told me mine was $269.95 with SF included @ $44.99 * 6 months. I kindly asked for a better deal they countered with $209.95 with SF @ $34.99 per Month. But thanks to MSSMITH I asked for a better deal then they came back with $149.94 with SF @ $24.99 per mo for 6 Month. All I mentioned is that I have carried Priemer + CI + MLBEI.

Well, after reading about tons of people getting NFL ST for $25/month ($45 less $20 credit over 6 months) and free superfan, I tried very hard to get the same offer. I explained that I had a friend that had gotten this exact offer, with no success.

I carry the Plus HDDVR pack, and subscribe to MLB EI, NHL CI, and NFL ST, and have 5 receivers. Average bill well over $100, customer for 3 years, never late.

Over 4 weeks and 3 phone calls, they would not budge on improving the offer from the very first phone call. After negotiating on three calls, the very best offer I got was the $20 credit for 6 months (making the NFLST payments $25), $99 for superfan ($16.50 over 6 months), Free Starz for 6 months and free Showtime for 2 months.

Excluding the movies (which I wouldn't watch enough to justify factoring those dollars in, NFL would cost $259.

Every time I spoke to retention and verified I had the retention department (asked if there was anyone else who could do more).

I'm sorry to say, for $160 they would have had me, for $260, I cancelled tonight.

I work at least one of three Sundays anyway, and last year about half the games I watched were on the local Fox or CBS anyway. Plus add the one or two NFL games I go to in person, I only was able to watch half the Sunday's anyway.

I guess I'll probably call once more close to the start of the season to give them one last chance to sell me on it, or I'll just head to the local bar when there is a "must see" out of area game.

Being in the Lions terittory, it is hard to watch the home team. I'd consider myself a fan of the league, just enjoying a big game, rather than one particular team. There are particular players I like watching too.

Bummer you couldnt get the deal. This was on all the 'hot deals' web sites, so maybe they just got too many calls on it and cut back on it.

That was my take. Half the games I wanted to watch on ST were on the local channels, and my old home team is nationally televised at least 3-5 times a year so I had a hard time anteing up $380 to watch 10-12 games I wanted to see that I'd otherwise have to watch on NFL Replay for free a couple of days later.

You think watching the Lions is tough, try living in Raiders/49ers territory. Not only do the local teams reek, with two of them they end up knocking one of the good national games off the local channels programming schedule.
