Bold Predictions for the 2009 NFL Season

Don't forget, the Jets were 4-12 two years ago, and improved to 9-7 with Brett Favre being dropped into the lineup. And that 9-7 record came with the 8-3 Jets losing four of their last five, with Mangini unable to do anything to stop the avalanche of losing. The lone victory of those last five games was an absolute gift from the Buffalo Bills.

And the year before that, they were 10-6 and went to the playoffs with Chad Pennington. What's your point?

As thrilled as Cleveland fans are to get Mangini, Jet fans are twice as thrilled that he's gone. ;)

Careful what you wish for. This is Rex Ryan's first Rodeo as Head Man in Charge. What makes you think he'll fair differently than Mangenius?

The Jets will be breaking in a rookie QB this year, so it's not as simple as saying they should improve on 9-7 because they have a new coach. If Mangini had been breaking in a rookie QB last year they would also have been far from 9-7. Mangini was 4-12 when he didn't have a hall of fame QB two years ago.

Oh dear. Already making excuses are we? BTW, Brayden Tyler Quinn has only started 2 games. He's basically a rookie too.

And the year before that...and the year before that...

Go back far enough and you can prove any point you like...;)

Go back to last year. Mangini was bad.

Exactly. Unlike you who is already making proclamations about Mangini, I'm making no such statement about Ryan. Could be great...could be terrible...could be somewhere in between.

This isn't Cleveland, I'm not ready to proclaim Ryan to be our saviour. I only know we needed Mangini out of here.

Quinn has now spent two years studying a system, practicing with the team, watching endless game film, and has even started four games. You're not seriously going to compare that to a kid fresh off a college campus, are you?

oh I know. While the metro Detroit folks were blacked out, I was one of the "lucky few" to watch them on TV via the Marquette, MI Fox station (WMQF) which is now no more (owner went belly up)

Hey...I can say I got to see the game to make them 0-16 ;)

Hey, you survived those viewings without any permanent damage to your brain?

There are some hospitals here that may want to study you.;)

Cleveland will win 10 games (Bengals twice, AFC West stinks outside of the Chargers- that's 3 wins- and the NFC North is unpredictable. Also, they could rise up against the Steelers or Ravens)

YEAH....right! Not in THAT division and not with a rookie QB that has barely taken any snaps and suddenly has to start with not as many weapons as the year before. They will be 7-9, 8-8 at best.

The Bears wont even win the division

I agree with this. The Vikings are still the team to beat in that division.

I just don't see Cutler becoming the instant success with his new team. Don't get me wrong, he'll have an impact, but not instantly. There are still holes on that Chicago team, namely the WR position. Cutler's going to see how lucky he was in Denver when he had Brandon Marshall to throw to. His targets in Chicago pale in comparison.

Wow! I love the way you guys think! Unfortunatley even THIS homer only thinks we'll win about 6 games this year. Anything over that and I'll consider it a tremendous success!
