Dish Programming Changes (Effective August 1st)

I have AEO + HD Gold + HD Platinim. I hace the following conversation with Dish and everything went well.

Please wait while we find a representative to assist you. In order to ensure we are providing you with the highest level of customer satisfaction, this conversation will be recorded.
You have been connected to (24DrDcb) Adam S. J48.

William Turner: Hi Adam
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: Thank you for being a valued DISH Network customer, I will be happy to assist you today. Please give me 2-3 minutes to access your account and review the information you have already provided.
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: Hello
William Turner: Thanks
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: I'd be happy to assist you with that.
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: For account security purposes, can I please verify the full name and address with zip code that is on the account?
William Turner: *******************
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: Thank you
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: What programming change would you like to make?
William Turner: I understand that effective yesterday, the Platinum HD package is included in the HD package. My account still shows it as being separate and is shown as an additional charge. All the HD channels should be $10. Can you please make the appropriate change?
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: There will actually be no need to make the changes. The system will update it sell. If I remove anything it might cause the platinum channels to go away temporarily. The information you received is correct though.
William Turner: How long will it take to get this changed on my bill?
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: It will be updated before you next bill is sent out.
William Turner: Thank you very much
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: You're very welcome.
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: What else can I assist you with?
William Turner: That's all. Thanks for you help
(24DrDcb) Adam S. J48: "I'm glad we were able to take care of that for you. You may be able to resolve any future technical issues yourself by going to TechPortal, saving possible wait time when calling or chatting in.
Thank you for being a DISH Network customer, have a great day. Unless you have anymore requests, this window will close in 60 seconds."

Platinum hd.

I finally got them to add the platinum channels even
though all I have is Turbo Hd Silver. I contacted the
tech support chat guy, since tech support seems
more knowledgeable, and had him remove all
of my programming and then re add turbo HD
silver with the platinum channels. I guess this
is the only way they can get their computers
to do this.
Well all i gota say is you got dam lucky i just tried that in the tech support chat and the woman would not budge on it and wanted me to pay almost $20 more dollars a month to get the other package.

Platinum a no go for TurboHD Silver

It ain't gonna happen today.

I tried with CSR and Techies.

I don't mind the fact that they haven't added certain channels, or even Platinum today, but there is no communication at all. Zippo. Yes, for $18 more I could get Classic Silver +HD, but there just isn't much more I need. Yes, I miss Nick with my kids, and Speed sounds cool. I want BBC HD, but there's not much else. It would be nice to have Platinum, and if they added it, like they should, then I would be happy. But, if they don't, I may be thinking seriously that they have organization probs and I will support some other company that is truthful with me, rather than not knowing what they're doing half the time. IMHO.

Yeah i feel the same as you as far as upgrading to the classic silver package the rep. showed me my new bill price and it would jump by almost $20 which i already pay$103 by the time they add their dam tax,not to mention that i would get a whole lot more of standard def. channels that i would probably never watch, heck i even looked at AEP to save on dvr fee and it still comes out to be more looks like you can't win someday you will have to chop off your arm or leg just to watch tv.

have classic gold 250 with HD Gold
and used online chat to get platinum added for free
and they gave me cinemax for a penny....so all in all a good day :)

Not so fast JB, I hope that you pay monthly as I have the exact same package as you and did the exact same thing and they burst my bubble with the annual pay customers don't qualify. 12 year Dish customer with annual pay and monthly auto pay and that's they way you're treated. I told them 'thanks for nothing".

I find all this really a shame, since all the new programming that was added to Platinum also came to us HD Absolute subs, I must presume Dish just killed any chance we might have had to get new programming on HD Absolute.

NEVERTHELESS - I will not change to a Classic programming package unless they pry my cold dead hand off HD Absolute first.

It would double my Dish Network bill.

Check your account,if adding to TURBO

After a long and frustrating day with various CSRs and tech persons I was forwarded to a CEO represenative about adding Platinum to any TURBO package. If anyone is claiming to have done that they are being misinformed,CEO says that Dish has turned off any access to TUrbo for Customer and/or CSRs etc.No addition to TURBO can be allowed,it just wont work. The only way to get free HD ,platinum add on is to cancel out your TUrbo package (that they can do)and add a classic package to your account. If anyone is getting Free platinum to their so Called Turbo account they need to check all their channels because they have been most likely switched out of TUrbo into a classic pack .
I have dealt with this particular CEO for along time and he has been very upfront with me in the past,I dont know why he would lie to me now.So Customers check your account in a few days, right now it may not show any changes as Dishes Computers are being upgraded all weekend and may take a few days to catch up.

I'm not going to do it until someone can tell me how adding "HD + Platinum" will affect the bundling of HD and Gold Bonus Pack with premiums.

With HD and Gold Bonus Pack as premiums, it reduces my HBO and Showtime to $10 each.

Would hate to lose that.

If you changed your service to the new Classic Gold with HD & Platinum, and you kept your two premium channels, I'm pretty certain your total bill would go up by $2. The website shows that they still offer discounts for bundling premiums (ie: two premiums for $22, three for $31, etc.). So if the Platinum channels are not worth $2 to you, then leave things the way they are. (Or, just wait a few more days, and see if the Platinum channels show up automatically and then confirm whether or not your billing will change.)

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the phone reps can't even tell that they are switching customers from Turbo to Classic when they add free Platinum to an account. (I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to the CSR that switched me.)

The website has been working better today, and I was able to log in. My account now shows that I have Classic Bronze 100-Plus, with HD & Platinum. New pricing and credits are not available to view yet.

It will do away with your bundling if you have top 250 bonus pack + hd pack and you go to HD + Platinum. I know I did just that. I had classic silver dvr advantage pack + 3 premiums till yesterday. The three premiums were Gold HD /HBO/top 250 bonus pack all for 31.00. So this is way it was :

57.99 Classic silver dvr advantge pack
31.00 three premiums ( hd/hbo/top 250 bonus pk)
07.00 additional receiver fee
---------------------------------------
95.99
(03.00) dvr credit
(10.00) loyalty credit
------------------------------------
$ 82.99 before tax

After I changed from GOLD HD to HD + platinum pack my bill is now broke down to this:

67.99 Classic Gold pack WITH dvr
15.99 HBO
10.00 HD + platinum pack
07.00 additional receiver
--------------------------------------
100.98
(03.00) dvr credit
(10.00) loyalty discount
---------------------------------------
$87.98 before tax.

So in the end I pay now $4.99 more than I did before I added the HD + plat pack. DISH will no longer consider HD or the top 250 bonus pack as a premium pack. ONLY the premium movie packs, Hbo/Showtime/Starz/Cinemax and Playboy and they will be bundled:

1 premium 15.99 hbo or 12.99 for Showtime,Starz or Cinemax.
2 premiums 22.00
3 premiums 31.00
4 premiums 40.00
5 premiums 50.00

I take it you have to have more than 1 dvr to get dvr advantage.

When I switched to the Platinum and HD package, HBO went from the $10 bundle price to it's solo price of $15.99. I decided to remove HBO, I knew that this would probably happen, just had to see for myself

Thanks for the explanations. I would end up paying $2 per month more if I switched out of the old system to the new one. Not sure if the Platinum channels are worth $24 per year extra to me. I know that sounds bad but having had the three month free promo for PlatinumHD and really never watching it, it is something to consider.

I don't blame you. That is almost 60% price increse for HBO. I'm so addicted to the HBO original programming though, I would probibly begrudgingly keep it.

NO you can have one dvr or two or three , but the WITH DVR plan ,that replaced the dvr advantage plan, only covers one of your dvrs . The rest still will be charged the 5.98 dvr fee per dvr receiver.
