Dish Programming Changes (Effective August 1st)

My Bill

What will be my price increase.

I have

DDA 200 Silver $57.00

250 gold add on $10.00

HD Gold add on $10.00

Extra Rec. $ 5.00

With tax I'm paying $87.97 (6% tax)

So if I'm get the platinum Hd how would my bill change?

Do I have this right? If I'd get the platinum HD added my bill would look like this.

Classic Gold 250 with DVR $67.99
HD + Platinum $10.00
Extra Rec. $5.00
It would stay at $87.97 because I don't have any movie pack like HBO Ect?

After having had the platinum channels for a few days now, some are good and some don't interest me.

MAVTV - This channel has some odd programming. There is a show called Fitness Beauties where they film women in spandex exercising. Not as exciting as it sounds but maybe it would give me motivation if I watch it while working out? Next I tried a show called Roof Top Comedy. The comedians were actually pretty funny. Last night I tuned into a program called Rad Girls where three girls were peeling gum off the bottom of a desk and eating it. Won't be watching Rad Girls again. Roller Derby is coming up this afternoon. Might be fun.

UNIHD - Seems to show mostly older James Bond movies. I've recorded You Only Live Twice.

BETJ - Have not found anything interesting yet.

LOGO - Have not found anything interesting yet.

FTV - I love seeing beautiful clothes so this channel is fun in small doses. This channel reminds me of Europe. They had it in all the hotels I stayed in a few years ago. Makes me excited for the new season of Project Runway too.

HDNMV - Old movies. Might find something good here.

MGM - Old movies. Recorded a couple of Sherlock Holmes movies. One turned out to be a comedy. Have a couple more timers set. Looks like a block of horror movies is coming up.

CI - No interest in watching crime scenes.

WFN - No thanks.

NBATV - Looking forward to having this when NBA season starts again.

NHLN -No thanks

Overall, not a package that I would have paid for but glad to have it thrown in with HD.

Only reason I had kept it was that they show "Enterprise" in HD on one of them. I think it might be UNIHD. The Sci-FI (or whatever they call it now) chops the show.

I would say yes :up

You really only get dinged if you have premiums.

Holy BatS*it Batman I forgot to bring my super secret decoder ring? How hard does it have to be to get packages from Dish. I have seen Chinese menus easier to decipher than his...

I think the reason why they ding you for getting the $10 discount when you have premiums is that they want to limit how much of a discount they can give you for this and that. They want to be able to make something.

Sometime on 8/5

yes :up

Check your bill then, because there were no channel package flag changes on those channels. I waited because I don't want to get hit with the price increase on losing my bundle discounts, and have not seen any Platinum channels. I suspect somehow your package was changed. How long have you had service? Did you sign up for the free 3 months of platinum recently perhaps?

I already have GoldHD and tried to get the Platinum channels added via chat. The guy (Sam D.) wouldn't do it. i got the "for new customers only" treatment. He claims they are trying to get them to all customers for free but not yet. He says the website will be changed when they are available to existing customers. I did however get the 3 free months of HBO/Showtime.

Everytime I add these so called "free" channel packages my monthly bill goes up. What's up with that?

My monthly bill was $82. Added Cinemax for a penny a year my bill is now $87. Then I added Showtime / HBO free for three months my bill is now $107. Last week I added the platinum HD for free and now my bill is a whopping $140 a month. I had a chat online last night with a CSR and he told me I was credited for the free services. Plus Dish's monthly bill is so hard to understand. Why couldn't they provide a more detailed statement such as:

Dish 250: $60
Locals: $5
Showtime: $10
Showtime Credit: -$10

Total Bill: $65

When they said new customers only I probably would have come up with a smart ass line like 'How about former customers?' ;)

Usually it is pretty much like you want it. When i had the free hbo/sho pack for three months, they actually credited me 2 months on the first bill, then the 3rd month on the second bill. So my 3rd bill was for full price, but that was because they credited me 2 months at once. Post part of your bill here so we can try to figure it out.

Are you on autopay? You should have noticed a substantially lower bill at some point indicative of the credits for the free promos.

Dish billing is funky, they bill a month in advance and do free promo credits funny as well.

It is sure confusing.

I had month one and two of my PlatinumHD promo on the same bill.

I had the three months free HBO/Showtime added to my account a few weeks ago but it still has not shown up. I've called several times to confirm that the promo is in place and they always tell me it is and that I'll see it in the next bill.

Who knows.

Interesting ... so it appears they are starting to clamp down on this ...

This is a little off topic, but if no one minds I have a quick question. I was thinking of taking advantage of Dish's 3 months free offer of HBO/Showtime. What I would like to know from you long time subscribers is how easy is it to cancel after my 3 months are up? Being new to Dish and seeing how the "Platinum" upgrade is being handle I'm concerned that trying to cancel HBO/Showtime would turn into a terrible nightmare...Or am I just being paranoid?
Thanks for any help,
Ghpr:confused:
