VIP 922 coming my way...

i agree. and what will confirm this if we never hear from the op again. so far squat today!

Sorry that I don't live by my computer so I can give hourly updates.

This dude has to work.

Again, if this all blows up in my face, $250 gambled will not change my life. I have already received that amount in entertainment from this forum today. ;)

I certainly appreciate the warm thoughts... is this how every new poster is treated?

One one hand this is quite humorous, good drama reading these comments.

On the other, quite sad how so quickly the worst is thought.

All I was trying to do was bring new information to this forum to help others. Information I could not find on the internet and thought would be of interest.
nobody cares if you won the receiver or you are just trying to show off
if you dont like how you are being treated then you should stop posting bogus junk.
seriously 0% feedback on ebay and first post here...

I sure hope I am wrong, but I too am of the opinion the OP is screwed, blued, and tatood on this deal...or should I say squeal. Perhaps this thread should be renamed VIP 922 Squeal or No Squeal?

Like I said, I sure hope I am wrong...jnixson3 receives his 922...and Dish Network activates it. ;)

Thank you for the sanity shown by Smith, P.

Reporting back. Set is in my hands and all looks valid. Unit, accessories, manual, and update software hardware features (as of 6/3/09). All packed like from the factory. I may not be able to get it out until Friday, and will let you know what happens.

I called Dish CS and asked her if any problems activating this unit. She said no. Could do it with her or online. Asked for additional info on the set, she said it looked like a mid September release. Price would be $425.

The Software and Hardware Update document that came with it is an interesting read. Shows updates, changes. Also highlights features that are not yet available. But looks like they will with future software upgrades. it is a 7 page document.

All is good right now... will let you know what happens when I fire it up.
I would love to know what number you called..Most Dish CS agents can't activate Beta boxes

As I said before I needed to have special notes put on my account so that they could activate my 922.

The info given about September release and the cost goes against everything he folks at Dish have told me.

I do hope it works for you, it is an interesting box. I look forward to hearing your feedback. :)

I hope you realize the seller has 0% feedback, the buyer has his first post today and both seller and the buyer are from IA?
this is just a show scott >_>

Lets give him the benefit of the doubt.

Since there is only a small handful of boxes out there (P Smith has a good idea at the actual number) it will be easy for Dish to figure out where the box came from. It could be a retailer selling off his unit from Team Summit (there were only like 3 working 922's on display at CES, the box didn't come from there.)

So lets give this member the benifit of the doubt. I do know 2 others with 922's who are not retailers and have obtained 922's, so it IS possible. :)

as do many of us here but being a new member you don't understand that we've seen this too many times and it's usually bs. nothing personal though:). keep us informed and pics would be great. enjoy!

I don't know if the csr he spoke to understood which box he does have or not.

I do know that I enjoyed reading this thread!!

We already have all the official Beta Testers bringing information to the forum. Thanks anyway.

So many impatient ppl gathered here, why you are so angry ?

Cannot wait for two days - too much jealousy overwhelming you?
Yeah. No one got the 922 for the price !:p
Right ?

if the csr was giving information about the release of the vip922, then she most likely was giving misinformation as well about activating it. i dont beleive you can activate one unless your account is tagged for beta.

scott, did you have to go to ert to activate? or where you given a special number to call? and did they change your account number? i believe beta accounts do not start are not in the 9000 series (referring to 8255-"909x"-xxxx-xxxx).

Nope I just called the regular number to activate it. 800-333-DISH.

BTW the box it comes in looks just like the box a 622 or 722 comes in, just got a different sticker on the side. :)

"I called Dish CS and asked her if any problems activating this unit. She said no. Could do it with her or online. Asked for additional info on the set, she said it looked like a mid September release. Price would be $425."

Just to clarify, was the CSR suggesting the 922 would be available to the general public in mid-September? And, as a follow-up, is that the upgrade price, the price for new customers, the purchase price, etc.? Anyone else with knowledge? (I was led to believe earlier it would be around $200 for DIU; is that still everyone's guess?)

He may have found a bird on the ground.

By the way Windows 7 is out but not for sale.

Those having multi license agreements have it from download on Microsoft elicense website.

Did a full install and two upgrades today.
