Can I move HD receiver to beach house on weekends?

Hey guys:
I currently have SD setup with DishPVR 508 and 311 recvrs owned.
I take my 311 to our 2nd home during the summer and hook it up to watch
TV, while we are there. I know this is in the gray area of legality, but as I understand
it, as long as I bring the rcvr back each time and am not watching TV in both locations simultaneously it is not fraudulent use. I have no desire to pay $65 monthly fee for
2nd home when only there for several weekends a month.
Question is? now am looking to upgrade to HD with local channels. (currently get locals OTA). Only use DVR occasionally (as I don't currently pay monthly DVR fee for this old 508)
What would be recommended action? I currently have Dishpro 500 dishes at both locations, single coax coming into home at each.
 
I think if you do more searching and reading you will find plenty of results indicating that you should be able to continue your tradition.
 
When I call Dish to do an HD upgrade to both TV's in the house, they are likely to want to simply install 1 dual rcvr, but I would prefer 2 separate rcvrs so it will be simpler to take the 2nd to the beach, without having to unhook my main setup.

They will have to upgrade my current dish, I think. To a 1000 series, right?
Then I was planning to do a self-install of another 1000 dish at the beach. This is what I did with the dishpro500.

Any recommendations on what to request from Dish or how to make this setup easier to accomplish. I don't currently have phone lines hooked to any rcvr. I could but it would be pain (re-running wires) No phone line at beach house only cell service.

I would let Dish install dish at 2nd home, but then it would cause all the questions, and
not even sure if they would do it.
 
I don't think this has anything to do with TV Everywhere. Isn't that just remotely accessing your DVR to control recording. Such as during bank robbery, as in the commercial!!!

Yes. I was being facetious. Dish will gladly sell you a sling box so you can watch TV at your vacation home a few weeks a year...or you can just pack your receiver in the car when you go.
 
But when the installer shows up I only have two TV's.

I tried to google the Slingbox, but it only talks about remotely accessing the
the DVR, says nothing about Sling giving me ability to watch TV at second location.
Also, don't have internet access at beach location.

Tell them you have two (2) HD TV's.. That way you have to have 2 separate receivers.. A dual reciever won't give you HD on both TV's
 
If you only have two TVs, just get two ViP 211k receivers. Either or both can be turned into a simple DVR by paying a one-time fee of $40 and adding an external hard drive. The 211k has an optional OTA module that can be added as well. The first 211 will be included in your package price and the second will cost $7 per month. There should be no account level DVR fee under the new pricing from what we understand. Dish also has a vacation home policy whereby they allow you to legally drag your receivers back and forth. The best part is that they will do the install at the vacation residence as well. It usually costs $99. If you add the currently available DHPP plan to your account and do a Dishmover for the vacation home, the install is free. Come February first, it will no longer be free with the Dishmover and DHPP and terminating DHPP will result in a penalty. You could add the Dish 1000.2 yourself. Going the vacation home route allows you to call and switch the service address to get locals if you are outside of the spotbeam for your usual locals. Under the vacation policy, you are supposed to take all receivers with you in case they call for an audit. I doubt that'll be an issue if you're usually only gone for the weekend but with E* you never ever know for sure. As others have said, be sure to tell them you have 2 HDTVs so you'll get 2 HD receivers. You can also purchase the 211ks fairly cheaply but the fees will be the same as if you lease from E*.
 
Hollywood and TV programmers want you to pay for each location. Dish has in the past "overlooked" things, even though officially the line is every location needs its own service. Even Charlie has mentioned taking a receiver out on trips.

I just would not hook it to a phone or internet while "travelling" and plug it back in when you get home, so it will phone in regularly and everyone will be happy.

We had a 622 and one sd receiver here at home, sd went camping and racing.
I did just as you want last summer for our camper in a campground. Called dish, scheduled upgrade for a sd receiver to 722 receiver and said I would like to have this receiver in our camper till end of summer. ok. I bought a D1000.2 . Dish installer arrived, we removed D500, put D1000.2 on mast, connected to our single wire and attached to 722 with separator, connected tv, turned both on and watched HDTV while he finished up his paperwork. WE use both here at home in the winter, we each have our own,(real nice). When one is in camper it is off when we are home, and one at home is off when we are at camper.
At home or camper we each have our own HDTV and recordings. One connected to HDMI and other to Componet, tv2 connected to her tv since I connect the wires .And ota to each tv.

I guess I'll spew mine....My family have done this since 1997 at our cabin. Weekends we move the one receiver to the cabin for the weekend from my dad's house....use to be mine until I cancelled Dish

So I guess all the people tailgating at football games and NASCAR events with their Dish Setups are going to be cut off by the Dish Police? NOT!

Go to any Football stadium parking lot on any given game day and you'll see people doing the "expressly prohibited" in plain sight.

Does Dish care? Do they send people to stadiums taking away people's receivers?

I'm getting better now, but several years ago after we had a 500 put on the house, I would throw our 300 in the camper, get to campsite, set dish up, have a couple cold ones, then try to change satellites and get everything messed up. Race on in an hour and me on wrong sat. Even had to borrow a cell phone I would call dish, tell them where I was and what I wanted to do, they would walk me right through it and wish me a good day.
This is one of the main reasons that I have been with dish for over 12 years.
Wife and I have seen people set up dish at a motel room for the night, including a small hole in the corner of window screen for the coax. I never went that far. yet.
 
Hey havent you heard the new receivers will have GPS built in. If they arent at their home address E will charge a temp move fee:(

I am just joking but wouldnt be surprised:(

I took my one receiver to florida once to see a chuck chat, geez that was a long time ago.....
